Masterplans

The plans focuses on ‘the spaces within a space’, taking precedent from the ‘Charged Void: Urbanism’ by Alison Smithson.

The ground floor has no hard fences to allow people to see each other and invite each other in. Playing around with different thresholds within the scheme; the spilling landscape, the entrance and the garden.

Experiencing the landscape at different levels through a series of gallery walks and patios where animals, plants, changes in season and weather can be observed. The gallery walks also allows for connectivity between dwellings.

Biodiversity Net Gains

Understanding the value of nature by allowing biodiversity net gains on site. Permeable resin paving is used, which complies with SUDS, actively contributing to flood prevention.

CLT Structural Strategy - Pre-fabricated CLT panels

CLT pre-fabricated panels. Each panels are pre-fabricated, including cut outs for windows and doors. Th external walls act as load-bearing elements due to its high tensile strength.

The CLT panels will then be cladded in a corrugated metal external cladding.

Project Overview

A short interventional scheme at the Tower Gardens.

Oct 2023 - Nov 2023

This primer project aims to study and analyse Bruce Grove as a place as a whole and to develop an interventional scheme in The Tower Gardens Estate that responds to its rich social and cultural context. The aim of the project was to open up an introverted space, and turning it into a lively and bright gathering space for residents through a series of experiential play stations. The understanding of this new space is meant to inform a change.

Project Overview

Based in Usk, a small Welsh market town with a unique character, the project explores on what gives the town its identity and distinctive sense of place. Here, an old goods yard is repurposed into a Potter’s Studio, preserving Usk’s lost cultural heritage and contributing to the revitalisation of its community. Here, the process of pottery is understood, allowing for a place where the process defines the quality of the potter’s space.
