Dear Friends, 2016 marks TASTE’s 44th year serving local palates and also the 10th anniversary of the Pruden family’s stewardship of this venerable Tidewater business founded by Peter Coe. As we celebrate these milestones and anticipate TASTE’s 50th anniversary in just six years, it is a good time to reaffirm our pledge to be a mission-oriented, values-driven company. Through a multi-month process involving key TASTE stakeholders — owners, employees, vendors and customers — we created a new mission statement that expresses TASTE’s commitment to building community in its various iterations: within our amazing Team TASTE, with our loyal customers, with the unique specialty food community and our suppliers, and finally with the larger community of Coastal Virginia. Further introspection afforded the opportunity to revisit and refine our core values:

Vivian Howard, star of the award-winning PBS television series, A Chef’s Life, grew up on a farm in rural North Carolina. After college she moved to New York City for a brief stint in corporate advertising then left that job for culinary school and internships at some of the city’s top kitchens. In 2005 she returned to North Carolina to open the now famous restaurant, Chef & the Farmer, close to her childhood home in Deep Run, NC.

Established and designed by musician Dave Matthews in 2000, Blenheim Vineyards is located just 20 minutes southeast of Charlottesville on the historic Blenheim Estate.
