Discover The Tasting Club’s Celebrating A Decade Of Winners!
Over the last 10 years, Tasting Club members have tasted and rated almost 2,000 chocolates. And from those, only a select few have emerged with the ultimate accolade – the coveted No.1 spot. Simon Thirlwell, Club News editor
Now, seized by delicious nostalgia for those winning chocolates, we’ve looked back over 10 sensational years of the Club and have carefully chosen just 18 of those golden greats. They are the Chocolate Tasting Club’s Greatest Hits – The No.1 Collection.
Our tasting trip down memory lane starts in 2000 with Wafeltje Melk, a meltingly soft milk chocolate sandwich – and what a start! Also from 2000 we have the dreamy Elegance with earthy walnuts and praline… Diamant’s marbled white and dark shell was a real eyecatcher from 2001, not to mention the silky chocolate mousse inside! 2002 is represented by one of the classic boozy recipes, Calvados Truffle, that takes us to the realms of deep, dark and mouth warming flavours… and the following year brings us another absolute classic in the form of Marc de Champagne, before lightening the tone with Macadamia Smoothie, brimming with the natural creaminess of premium macadamia nuts. In 2004 we find the legendary Griotte

Deluxe – which remained the highest scoring chocolate for several years with its whole amaretto-soaked cherry on a bed of soft white chocolate ganache. Also from that year we discover the flavour explosions of Blueberry Bombe, which changed many members’ views of fruit in chocolate… two golden greats from 2005 start with the perfectly named Drunken Raspberry that clearly didn’t just sound and look good! Then we have the comforting notes and exciting textures of Florentina. Strawberries & Cream was just one of the fruity highlights of 2006, which continued with the beautifully made Pomegranate Truffle… while in 2007 members raved about the impressive array of nuts that went into Nut Hamper as well as the synergy of flavours that created by Raspberry Prosecco. Bringing us right up to date with recipes that wowed members and swept to the top we have the high scoring Poire Belle William and Raspberry Liqueur Truffle from 2008… and finally, two heavenly creations from 2009, with the bountiful delights of Billionaire Shortbread and the calming escapism of Florentine Dream.
