It is a new way of storytelling for kids, especially young girls, to imbibe the idea into young minds that just like the 51 women spoken about in the book, princesses don't need a prince to save them. We have a similar story in TSSDC Mumbai. Sharmavati Kumari is married and has a 1.5-year-old kid to look after. She had a dream to become a Doctor. Due to her financial background and orthodox family, Sharmavati reflected damsels in distress waiting, to be rescued by knights in shining armour and ended in a marriage. She still convinced her husband and in-laws to support her in achieving her dream. Being rejected several times she decided to stand on her own and look for the opportunities while giving confidence to her husband and in laws that household chores and daily routine would not get affected if she works. Initially, husband was hesitant to support Sharmvati however later on decided to give it a chance. He got to know about Tata STRIVE through his friend and enrolled Sharmavati for General Duty Assistant training as she could see the ladder towards her dream. …..continued

Tata STRIVE learnings helped her to build self-confidence and come out of shell and achieve her dream. She successfully completed the training and on the job training in Shivaji Hospital. She was the first one to get selected at Nightingale Home Health Care. Her CTC is Rs152400/-. She has taken a very bold step with her husband’s support. Employer is really happy with her performance. PERCHANCE TO DREAM Rohit Thapa lives in an orphanage in Koparkhairane. He is SSC pass. He wished to study further, but due to financial situation, he was guided to take up a training course which could get him a job. He came to know about Tata Strive from his Sir in orphanage.
Rohit was excited about getting the practical learning in Tata Strive. He thought he could achieve his ambitions starting from here. Rohit was a shy and reserved guy when he joined Tata Strive. He was always reluctant to gel with others. The initial selfdiscovery helped him open up and build confidence. He is a talented artist. During chart making he received appreciation from his colleagues and facilitators which helped him to recognize his potentials. This helped him to take responsibilities in class and learn more. His curiosity to learning, helped him to grasp things and be efficient in his domain. Soon he was the preferred learner not only for the Facilitator, but also for the admin to solve any electrical issues arising in the premises.
Currently Rohit is working with MB Enterprises as an Assistant Electrician and giving his best at the job. He says all the practical experience gained at Tata Strive is helping him a lot at his workplace.
