Genova Study Abroad | Spring 2019 Tate Deluccia
Program consisted of day trips in areas local to Genova. Led by Giuditta Poletti to provide history of architectural sites of the city visited. Additionally, sketching excursions inside Genova were led by Henrique Houayek. Prominent sites were visited to improve spatial awareness, technique, and style. Genova
became my favorite on this list not only because it was where I called home, but it’s where I had the majority of my experiences. The best gelato place is Romeo Viganotti in the historic city center. I favored Pavia’s atmosphere. The relaxed mood of the city was

perpetrated by the lack of cars and scooters. The city felt clean and the history of the city was interesting. My favorite architecture visited on the list was Milan on the second trip. The High Line-esque space was well done and the contemporary architecture was a nice break from the typical.

The Program consisted of two ten-day group trips led by Guiditta Poletti. The first group trip dealt with the south of Italy, and the second, the north. Museums and sites of architectural significance were usually what was visited during these trips. Trip 1 Favorite : Siena Trip 2 Favorite : Vienna
Most of the time I roomed with Ethan in what was typically the smallest room of the group somehow. Vienna was my favorite stop of all places listed because of the change of pace of a different country. Roma, Firenze, and Venice felt crowded and touristic, and although there were great things to see, I

prefered the lesser known cities for their charm.

We were given a ten day break as a “spring break to travel through Europe independently. My cousin, Lesley Rae, had moved to Toulouse, France six months before so I visited her. Not much architecturally related was done in Toulouse because the main focus was on relaxing and food. I went to my first rugby
game here. Then after I went to Barcelona to meet up with my Aunt and Uncle. Saw a bunch of Gaudi. Ate a lot of tapas. On weekends I could travel if I wanted to. My favorite place I went overall was Interlaken, though everything was expensive. The scenery was

incredible and could not be matched. I hiked up a mountain. My parents came near the end of my semester for ten days. They spent the first several days in Firenze while I worked, but I eventually met up with them in Cinque Terre. I hiked up another smaller mountain here.

I realized that I was taking similar photos of things around Europe and wanted to compile them all in a category here. The first deals with graffiti, though in many cases it’s more like street art. I don’t know why name but theof building first balloon makes me name of building irrationally happy. The second is 98
what I saw when I looked up in different locations. Most of the times I was in a church, and the subject was the inside of the church’s dome. Sometimes I would see the way a building was framing the sky and want of building to take a picture name of that. Other name of building times I might be at the bottom of
a staircase. Furniture became a category because I had several sketches of chairs and wanted to make a collection. Windows were less about the window itself and more about what was being framed in the HERE window. Lastly, City Name Henrique loves pavement so I have many photos of pavement.
