Comparing the iPhone 6s plus vs the iPhone 6 plus

Page 1

Earlier this year, the smartphone giant released its latest update to the infamous iPhone: the Apple iPhone 6S Plus. Whenever that 'S' is added, we always know there's a focus on speed, but what else has Apple changed this time?

Design The 6S Plus looks identical to its predecessor, the 6 Plus. It's very slightly thicker (by 0.01 inches) and marginally heavier (by 0.70 ounces). However, it is the most durable iPhone as of yet, wrapped in an alloy of 7000 Series aluminium. Screen size remains the same, and consumers now have a wider choice in colours to pick from.

Power/Performance The A9 chip claims to pack desktop-class performance, running an astounding 70% faster than the previous A8, with a GPU that's 90% faster. The iPhone 6S Plus also features 2GB of RAM, which is double the 1GB that was in the previous model. Its major change for users, though, is the new 3D Touch, adding an extra level of touch sensitivity. A slight touch on an application brings up a table similar to a right-click menu you might see on a computer. This should theoretically improve overall system performance and usability, saving time and effort.

Cameras Finally, a major upgrade to the iPhone cameras, often seen lagging behind close competition from Samsung. In place of an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a sub-par 1.2megapixel front-facing camera, the 6S Plus delivers a 12megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel frontfacing camera. Professional photography is now even easier and more open to everybody. Video recording-wise, users can not only shoot HD videos but record with a massive 4K of detail. This advance in technology has been captured by Apple and puts this capability right next to the more advanced smartphones on the market

Battery Life It's becoming more and more important for these extremely powerful handheld computers to ensure there is sufficient power behind their capabilities. No one wants a great iPhone to only last half a day, so Apple have stepped up and installed a higher capacity 2750 mAh non-removable battery. This is positive in comparison to the iPhone 6S' 1715 mAh non-removable battery.

Storage No interesting points to make here: storage capacities remain the same as before, with 16GB, 64GB and 128GB options available with no option to add extra storage. Make sure you opt for the highest within your budget if you listen to lots of music and watch movies. Conclusion The iPhone 6S Plus is, not so clearly, their best smartphone yet. Yes, it looks the same as the previous 6 Plus, but on the inside they have made essential upgrades, and performance proves this through faster speed, increased usability and higher power.
