The first Tattersalls October £25,000 Book 1 Bonus of 2017 was won by the William Jarvis-trained MRS GALLAGHER who held on bravely to win the Godfrey Tabiner British EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Ascot in a thrilling finish. Under the guidance of Silvestre De Sousa, the daughter of OASIS DREAM picked up a total of £37,675 on debut for her owner Emma Banks, made up of a £25,000 Book 1 Bonus, a £7,500 Plus 10 Bonus and prize money of £5,175. Consigned by Stanley House Stud, MRS GALLAGHER is the first foal out of Listed-placed mare A HUGE DREAM, a half-sister to dual winner of the Group 1 BMW Champion’s Mile at Sha Tin, XTENSION. The well-bred filly was purchased by James Toller at Book 1 for 140,000 guineas. Trainer William Jarvis said after the race “I think MRS GALLAGHER is quite smart. Her owner Emma Banks is thrilled and even more so having won nearly £40,000.”

The two-year-old colt earned his owner Peter Timmins a massive £44,950 in the process, made up of a £25,000 Book 1 Bonus, a £7,500 Plus 10 bonus and £12,450 in prize money. The son of MAYSON out of the NAYEF mare MOONGLOW was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 70,000 guineas by Robin O’Ryan and Richard Fahey from the draft of Cheveley Park Stud.

The Charlie Appleby-trained GLORIOUS JOURNEY won the Margaret Giffen Memorial 2YO Novice Stakes at Newmarket and became the 45th winner of a Tattersalls October £25,000 Book 1 Bonus. The beautifully bred son of DUBAWI earned a total of £37,028 on debut made up of £4,528 in prize money, £7,500 from the Plus 10 bonus and £25,000 from the Book 1 Bonus. Out of Group 1 Coronation Stakes winning mare FALLEN FOR YOU, the striking colt became the joint-highest priced yearling sold in the world last year when

Her victory at Bath netted her £37,093, made up of a £25,000 Book 1 Bonus, a Plus 10 Bonus of £7,500 and prize money of £4,593. The Mark Johnston-trained NYALETI became the 49th winner of a Tattersalls October £25,000 Book 1 Bonus when she won the Toby Balding Memorial Novice Stakes at Salisbury yesterday. The daughter of ARCH was bought by her trainer for just 40,000 guineas at Book 1 and nearly earned back her price tag on debut by winning a total of £35,350 for her owners 3 Batterhams and A Reay made up of the £25,000 ‘Book 1 Bonus’ and £10,350 in prize money. Consigned at Book 1 by Baroda and Colbinstown Studs, the bay filly is out of Listed winning VERGLAS mare AMERICA NOVA and is a half-sister to multiple Group-winning globetrotters SIR PATRICK MOORE and STELLAR PATH. NYALETI has since established herself as one of the best two year old fillies in Europe having subsequently won the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot by an impressive 5 lengths.

The beautifully-bred son of sire sensation FRANKEL is a half-brother to Group 1 winner and sire ZOFFANY, the horse who finished closer to FRANKEL than any other horse when runner-up in the St James’s Palace Stakes. Out of the five - time winning HAAFHD mare LASTROSEOFSUMMER, WHITE MOCHA is the third foal out of the mare and was in utero when Woodford Thoroughbreds purchased her for 60,000 guineas at the 2014 Tattersalls December Sale.

QAROUN was Al Shaqab’s second Book 1 Bonus winner of the week following the success of the Richard Hannon trained ALGAM. By Yeomanstown Stud’s DARK ANGEL, QAROUN earned £37,028 for his owners, having been purchased by Nicolas de Watrigant for 220,000 guineas. ELARQAM is out of dual Classic winner ATTRACTION, a winner of five Group 1 races during her racing career and latterly the dam of 6 winners from 6 runners including Group 3 Sapphire Stakes winner FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH. TONKIN was offered at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Watership Down Stud but failed to find a buyer at 50,000 guineas and is raced by his breeder Richard Barnes. An AUSTRALIA half-sister to TONKIN will be offered as lot 335 at Book 1 of this year’s October Yearling Sale which takes place October 3 – 5.
