Who Can Enrol? Students from any Primary/Intermediate or Secondary School in Tauranga and local vicinity with a special interest in learning Mandarin are invited to enrol for Chinese classes. Adults may also enrol.

*All students will be assessed on entry. Native speakers may qualify for a shortened course to gain NCEA credits.
Venue: The venue for all classes will be B Block at Tauranga Girls’ College, 930 Cameron Road, Tauranga 3112. Parking is available in the carpark closest to Gate Pa Primary School. B Block is close to this carpark.

Timing: The classes will run for the normal duration of the school year unless otherwise stated. The classes will run outside the normal school hours to enable students from all schools to attend. See over for timetable.

1. China is one of the world’s oldest and richest continuous cultures, over 5000 years old. 2. China is the most populous nation in the world, with 1.28 billion people. 3. One fifth of the planet speaks Chinese. Mandarin Chinese is the mother tongue of over 873 million people, making it the most widely spoken first language in the world. 4. In addition to the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan, Mandarin Chinese is also spoken in the important and influential Chinese communities of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, and Mongolia. 5. China is the second largest economy in the world. 6. China is one of the largest trading partners of New Zealand. 7. Many New Zealand companies do business in China and have long-term investments there.

Mondays and Wednesdays 4:00pm to 5:30pm
STUDENT NCEA PREPARATION CLASS NCEA credits can be obtained here.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:00pm to 5:30pm
ADULT CLASS (2 levels)
Tuesdays only 6:30pm to 8:30pm
STUDENT NCEA LEVEL 2 and 3 (shortened course. Terms 1 and 2 only) NCEA credits can be obtained here.
Thursdays only 6:00pm to 8:00pm
CHILDREN’S CLASS
Saturdays only 1pm to 2:30pm

All classes are held in B Block Tauranga Girls’ College, 930 Cameron Road, Tauranga. For more information, email Nena (nrovekamp@tgc.school.nz) or ring them at Tauranga Girls’ College 5788114 ext 763. Fees 2015. The Saturday Children’s Class will cost $50 per term. All other classes cost $90 per term. To enrol, print out an enrolment form from http://www.tgc.school.nz/CCS. Instructions for paying are on the enrolment form. Starting Date 2015 Classes will start the week beginning 9th February.
