On April 4, 2004, 20 women dared to be different. These Zeta women recognized the need for the presence of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in the western suburbs of Chicago, and Tau Xi Zeta Chapter was born. This chapter upholds the belief of our founders: sorority elitism and socialism should not overshadow the real mission for progressive organizations, to address societal mores, views, prejudices, poverty, and health concerns of the 21st Century. Since its chartering six years ago, Tau Xi Zeta Chapter has been devoted to serving the community. The chapter provides services for Forest Park and the surrounding communities through various programmatic efforts.

Chapter History
From the Desk of the President... Greetings Sorors, Brothers, Family and Friends, With our Founders’ Day just happening and our Finer Womanhood Month now finally upon us, it should cause us to stop and think about the principles that our wonderful organization was founded upon and what we can and must do to keep their dream alive. I am excited about the upcoming projects that we have coming up and know that the things that we do within our community will help to make our Founders proud to see that we are striving to keep their legacy alive by our actions. —Sisterly Submitted, Soror Chantel Woodridge

were represented with more than 100 students in attendance at this year’s event, which is hosted every year in order to ensure that students in Forest Park and on the west side of Chicago are aware that there are opportunities after high school as long as they have the right tools. Admissions counselors spoke to the
youth concerning the number of financial aid opportunities that are available to help make school more affordable. We look forward to having this event again in November 2011 and hope it will draw even more students this year.

pamper themselves while giving back for a worthy cause. “Pamper Me Pretty” is an opportunity for women and minority owned businesses to gain exposure to hundreds of potential clients whom have not had a chance to experience their services. This year’s vendors included makeup, clothing, shoes, jewelry, body scents, handbags and more. Tau Xi Zeta Graduate Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated focuses it efforts on improving the quality of life for residents of the west side of Chicago and its western suburbs. We use our founding principles of Scholarship, Service, Finer
Womanhood and Sisterly Love as a call to action to improve conditions in our community. In a difficult job market, more and more individuals will need to create jobs through business ownership. And Tau Xi Zeta is proud to do its part in supporting women and minority owned businesses! (Stay tuned for coverage of our Annual Finer Womanhood Banquet in the next edition of The Zeta Chronicle.)
