SOLUTIONS
Make hours of operation end at an earlier time in the day to limit access. Team up with nonprofits specifically geared toward helping the homeless community better their lives and get the help and access to resources that they need. Provide job resources in the transit center, as well as access to showers and amenities to prepare for job interviews and travel. Make hub about homeless awareness - Donation areas throughout transit centers - Art reflecting homeless situations to promote awareness Make entrances above first floor to make it more difficult to access by foot. Provide two buses a day provide transportation to homeless shelters for free. Provide two buses a day provide transportation to job centers for free. Have space available on-site for nonprofits to provide counseling and therapy for people in need. Provide hygiene kits as well as limited access to showers and areas where homeless people can clean up for job interviews and shelters. Connections to housing and services. Specific employees for mental health to remain on call at all hours of operation Shuttle vans available outside the bus schedule all hours of the day. Provide bus tickets to different areas of the state and town to people in the programs at shelters and in the nonprofits, who show improvement and overall increase in wellbeing. Offer jobs on-site to homeless people who are taking advantage of programs available. OWNERS NAME

KEY POINTS
Homeless people are seen to be “undesirables” or people who are not wanted in or around public spaces. • Tend to be seen hanging around transit centers due to the amenities that they provide such as - Food - Public Access - Hours Open - Ease of Access - Opportunities - Potential for Panhandling • There are laws out in place to protect discrimination against the homeless community. For they are a group targeted for hate crimes and other obscene activities. • Some people live in transit centers for years at a time. • The homeless people who live in the same transit centers for multiple years claim that it is so comfortable and easy to live in these places that they don’t see a reason to leave and are never forced to leave for good. • Hours of operation effect the number of homeless people in public areas. • one group of activists are trying to break the stigma against homeless people by encouraging gathering at one central transit station and making a protest to show that the homeless are real people with real UP problems and that it will take something greater to solve this issue. • It is necessary to have access for homeless people to sponsors and other helpful resources. • Violence and resistance to shelters is an issue. • Can be a hub for drug trade. • It can be interpreted that homeless people use Transit centers as a crutch or an excuse to not get help.

CRITERIA • • • • • •
To create an office space of the Production, Inventory, and Development departments at Malouf Sleep in Logan, UT. This space requires flexible growth and will need to sit 6070 people. Branding and layout of the space can be creative and out there. Allow for ease of access for employees outside of the department to come and visit. Access to a War Room for 15-20 people, conference room for 15, phone rooms, and small work stations. Lounge areas throughout.
SOLUTIONS • • • • •
Fit 70 desks into work space comfortably and equally. Provided an abundant amount of lounge seating throughout the space. Design the surrounding areas to have conference rooms. a war room, and multiple phone booths. Space is fully designed to be functional as well specific to the department. Used the “hive” conceptually throughout the space to reflect what the production, inventory, and development departments do for the company. i.e. The main central hub for all that goes on at Malouf.

BREAKOUT SPACE This is the breakout space at Malouf Sleep that is an introduction into their new building which they are currently designing. This space acts a breakout space for employees and it was important to have games and activities for employees to go do on their own time and be able to connect and socialize with people from the other building as well as spend time on their own. There are two putting greens provided for employees to use on their breaks or to hold casual meetings while enjoying the space. In the center of the space there is a courtyard where employees can enjoy the outdoors in a way that is not typical of an office space. There are hammocks and casual seating in this area to encourage relaxing outdoors to fully use this space. In the middle of the walkway is two different seating groups to wait and meet other employees or enjoy on your own. It was important to Malouf to have this seating area and have it been flexible for events or moves in the future.

This project is in the red-light as a place 3 2 district of Amsterdam on the waterfront. The space acts for restoration for large groups as well as individuals exploring and adventuring Amsterdam. The hostel sleeps 78 people at max capacity. There is a theater room, multiple relaxation areas, a bar and coffee station on the first floor. The hostel does offer dinner 2 nights a week, though there are kitchens available for guests to use at their own leisure. Rooms can be rented out completely or beds individually, all are served on a first come first serve. Bordello is set to be in Amsterdam. The hostel shows a cultural emphasis through use of color and pattern as well as encourage socialization and interaction. The building is set to be near the red-light district. By placing Bordello near such a talked about part of town the interior design reflects this as well as engulfs guests into the culture by placement.

Taking ‘cntrl’ SZA opens up about being bullied as a child, beating depression and the making of her Top 10 debut ‘Ctrl.’
SZA
arrives at Chelsea’s SIR Studio on a recent Tuesday evening with a plastic baggie full of weed, a black eye, a cell phone photo of her new gun, and a buzzing, electric energy that borders on mania. About the black eye: “I fell out of a treehouse. I couldn’t hold the blunt and the rope at the same time.” About the gun: “The world is scary. I’m a gun-toting, weed-smoking American. ‘Cause multiplicity. It’s a human right.” And about the mania: “Jesus, I haven’t slept yet. My flight [from L.A.] was this morning at 6am. Sleep is a funny concept, it’s like, ‘What is that?’ I can go days without sleep.” Soon she’s passing a joint among her bandmates and somehow managing to only get more manic. “I’m not gonna remember anything I said to you,” she tells me, convincingly. “If I say anything crazy, just be like, ‘Bitch, calm down.’” Watch SZA Shoot Firecrackers From Fingers in ‘Supermodel’ VideoNeo-soul singer teams with magical fairy children in clip for ‘Ctrl’ track Thing is, it’s hard to imagine SZA calming down any time soon. That’s in part due to the success of her first studio album, Ctrl, which came out this past June. But it’s also just due to her vibe. “Like, I have a weird disposition,” she says. “It’s like that run-oncan’t-calm-down-waves-of-emotion thing.” Growing up in leafy Maplewood, New Jersey, the daughter of a Muslim executive producer at CNN (dad) and a Christian executive at AT&T (mom),
“The world is scary”
“that was my shit” SZA.Run and S, came about. “I was just making music in my homeboy’s closet, stealing beats off YouTube and SoundCloud,” she shrugs. Somehow, though, it worked. In 2013, she became the first female artist to be signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, Kendrick Lamar’s label. “Even the day I got signed, I was broke as fuck,” she says. “I didn’t have bread to get to the bank and cash my check. I just looked at it and took pictures of it for like three days until I could get to my parents’, and they drove me to the bank.” She smiles broadly. “I told them I signed to Dr. Dre because they didn’t know who anyone else was.” SZA released her EP Z shortly after being signed, and then spent three years freaking out about how to release a full album. In part, there was the issue of no longer being so small fry that she was able to steal beats, which meant

SZA – or Solána Rowe, as she was known then – was one of the few black kids in her neighborhood (“Mind yourself!”). She wore a hijab and says she was bullied even before 9/11, which was “just on some whole other level,” she says.
“’Oh, this bitch is Muslim? Let me get another reason to hate her.’” She transferred colleges four time before dropping out for good – “I just smoked and failed out; no crazy story there” – at which point, she found herself sleeping on couches, bartending at strip clubsand hanging out with her older brother, Daniel, who had musical aspirations. “He was having me sing Biggie lyrics over MF Doom, or like introducing me to the Dum Dum Girls,” says SZA, who wasn’t allowed to watch TV or listen to the radio growing up. “I was depressed and he was depressed, and I didn’t have shit else to do.” Turns out, music was “just one thing I didn’t suck at.” That’s how SZA’a two self-released mixed tapes.
