Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXX RE: YOUR REQUEST REF NO: EIR 06441 UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 We have considered your request which was for details of the cost directly incurred by Surrey County Council of producing the animated film of the Eco Park (http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=XqPcyDEUl_E&feature=digest). I now enclose the following information: The proposal to develop an Eco Park at Charlton Lane, Shepperton is a key element of Surrey County Council's World Class Waste Solution for the county, which aims to manage Surrey's waste in the most efficient, sustainable and cost effective way possible. A specific objective is to eliminate the use of landfill which costs Surrey taxpayers ÂŁ600,000 per month in taxes alone and is damaging to the environment. The Eco Park will treat 40,000 tonnes of food waste and 60,000 tonnes of household rubbish, diverting it from landfill and generating enough electricity to power the Eco Park site and thousands of homes. Whilst developing the proposals, Surrey County Council has undertaken an extensive consultation process with local residents. This has included a series of drop in sessions, regular newsletters to around 11,000 households and meetings with the Charlton Lane Community Liaison Group (CLG). Our aim was to ensure residents were kept up to date as the proposals evolved. We have provided information in a variety of formats to make it as accessible as possible and help residents fully understand the proposals. To provide a clear visualisation of what the Eco Park would look like and how the design and landscaping would fit with the surrounding area, a computer generated three dimensional model and fly through film were created at a cost of ÂŁ15,080. To date this has been shown at one of the drop-in sessions and residents have been advised via a newsletter that it is available to view on the Surrey County Council website. As the development progresses, the film will continue to be used to further aid the understanding of residents and other stakeholders. We supply this information based on your original request. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries regarding the information enclosed. Remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications. If you are unhappy with the handling of your request for information and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision, in the first instance you should contact the County Council, quoting your request number given above, at: Freedom of Information Officer Surrey County Council Room 134 County Hall Penrhyn Road
