As I have loved you, so you must John 13:34 love one another.” Who We Are: The AUMC Food Pantry is a volunteer based organization that works to provide emergency assistance to food-insecure families in Lee County. One fourth of our annual budget is funded by AUMC. The remaining 75% is provided through donations from individuals and community organizations. “We don’t really work here, we serve here. How You Can Help:
We serve approximately 76 families each week, providing them with dry goods, dairy products, meats and toiletries.
The Food Pantry welcomes your contibutions of time, prayer, and financial gifts.
We offer a variety of items based on what is availabe at the Food Bank of East Alabama, what is on sale at local grocery stores and what is needed and available at a reasonable cost. Other services we provide include a prayer room, clothes closet, nurses station and refreshments table. Our Homebound Delivery Ministry distributes food to senior citizens once a month.
From 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursdays, you can partner with us in preparing for our Friday operations. Whether you assist in unloading trucks, preparing the boxes or setting up tables from which guests can select items, there are a number of tasks to be completed. On Fridays, we would love for you to join us from 8:45 a.m till 11:30 a.m to push carts, load cars, weigh food and fellowsip with our guests.
The mission of the AUMC Food Pantry is to provide emergency assistance to hungry families in Lee County. Our hope is that by providing aid to these families they will be able to allocate their spending dollars toward other needs.
