Pray for Summer Spectacular June 12-16

Dear Church Family, As we're starting to sense the first days of summer, please be aware of the tremendous opportunity ahead to serve families while school is out. First, Summer Spectacular begins June 12 and is a great way to serve hundreds of children who will be on our campus. There are a variety of ways to serve throughout the week and we need "all hands on deck." Then, don't forget to pray and then invite families and children to come who do not know Jesus personally. It means looking around and looking ahead for the sake of people who desperately need the gospel. Thank you for your investment and service, your prayers and actions throughout this exciting week.

Paul Jimenez, Pastor

Salt Lake City Trip

James 1:27: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Mission 1:27 was originally formed in 2010 to raise awareness at Taylors FBC of the needs of orphans in our community and around the world and to provide support for fostering and adopting families. Over the last seven years, God has led many families in our church body to become foster or adoptive parents, and both in some cases. This fall we will make changes to Mission 1:27 that we believe will continue to strengthen and grow the impact of the ministry in our church and community: •

Wednesday Nights: We will no longer have weekly meetings but will redirect our time and resources to other areas of the ministry.

Greenville County Foster Parent Association (GCFPA): Our outreach efforts to the families involved in GCFPA will continue to grow in various ways such as hosting meetings, offering support through the Giving Closet.

Giving Closet: Will continue to be an opportunity for our body to provide support to fostering and adopting families in the church, the community, and to GCFPA.

Church Life: We will integrate the ministry of Mission 1:27 more into the life of the church through wrap around family support in Life Groups, involvement in Wednesday night marriage and parenting courses, training of preschool and children’s teachers, etc.

Foster Care Training: We will host two trainings annually to provide opportunities in the community for foster parents to gain the necessary hours to be licensed as foster parents.

Orphan Sunday: We will schedule a date in February or March.

Education: We will continue to host sessions, courses, and training related to orphan care.

June 20-25

The team will be prayer walking in Ogden and Lehi, Utah. They will also visit the Temple and spend time encouraging the missionaries on the ground.

Special Needs Ministry Summer Bible Study Wednesdays 9-11 am June 21-July 26 | Cost: $8 Registration Opens May 10 Childcare Registration Ends June 6

War Room by Priscilla Shirer "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." Matthew 6:6 War Room Bible Study is based on movie clips by the same title where Tony and Elizabeth Jordan seemingly have it all – great jobs, a beautiful daughter, their dream home. In reality, their marriage has become a war zone. But with the help of an older, wiser woman, Elizabeth discovers she can start fighting for her family instead of against them. With her newly energized faith, Elizabeth's real enemy doesn't have a prayer. Session topics include: Dealing with Spiritual Lukewarmness, Christian Accountability, Grasping Grace and the Gospel, Engaging in Spiritual Warfare, and Trusting God in Prayer

Luke 14:12-14

Often families living with disability, a rare disease, chronic illness, or special needs feel incredibly isolated. So how can the church respond in a way that shows these families we care and desire to walk alongside of them? Praise God for answered prayer as He continues to add to our team of caring volunteers – some who are professionals with expertise in special needs, some who just have a passion for children and families, and some who have their own loved one with special needs and are willing to help as we form a viable ministry. Blogger, Sandra Peoples says we need “to see that people with disabilities are part of God’s purpose for the church. 1 Corinthians 12 teaches us church is made of many parts, and some of those parts are weaker than others but are still worthy of honor, “But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together” (vv. 2426). This isn’t to imply people with disabilities are “less than” people without disabilities. But speaking from my experience of having a sister with Down syndrome and a son with level three autism, many have limitations that keep them from doing some things in the church, but not all. Churches don’t love and serve people who can best serve them back. They love and serve people (period).” From Reflections on the Disability in Church Discussion Church staff and volunteers are currently working to develop a special needs ministry at Taylors FBC where every child is loved, has their needs met, and hears the gospel in a way suited to the child. We will also strive over time to minister to parents and families who have a loved one with special needs. What can you do? 1. Pray! 2. Volunteer to be trained and serve on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, or special occasions; 3. Reach out to a family with a special needs child or loved one and offer to serve them. For information on serving, contact Kathy Dority at kathyd@taylorsfbc.org or 864-678-8822. Learn about Special Needs Ministry by visiting www.keyministry.org.

Aiken Chapel Missionary Baptist Church History Our history is a part of that of a sister church in our community! Alfred Taylor, who owned the land our church was established upon, sold property to Andrew Moseley and H.C. Priestly, for $150.00 to be used for an African American Baptist or Methodist Church School. This land was located where Aiken Chapel Missionary Baptist Church stands today. Join us in congratulating this congregation on their 100 year anniversary! “We have come this far by faith, prayers, and perseverance.” Thank you to Odis Hatton, Sr. for providing this great history. They will have a 100th Church Anniversary celebration on July 16 at the church. For information about their Gala Celebration at Furman University on June 24, contact the church at 268-6970. If you would like to make a donation to their building fund, please designate "Aiken Chapel" on your check and offering envelope. The church would like to thank Taylors FBC for contributing to their building fund.

Welcome Tim Kimmel to our morning services on Sunday, June 25. Dr. Tim Kimmel is the founder and Executive Director of Family Matters, whose goal is to see families transformed by God’s grace into instruments of reformation and restoration. Tim loves it when churches and families are healthy and strong. He loves it even more when they work as a team. He believes the best way to pass on saving faith and a transformed life is within the nurturing confines of a loving home. To help others achieve this, he has developed resources, conferences, and media tools to equip and encourage parents, grandparents, churches, and couples. Dr. Kimmel will lead the Grace Filled Marriage Conference at Taylors in August.

AUGUST 25-26 | TAYLORS FBC You want your marriage to be the best it can be, but the reality of life can put a damper on your good intentions. Begin by treating your spouse the way God treats us, with grace! Come learn how to ignite your love story at the Grace Filled Marriage…Making Love that Lasts event. Author and speaker, Dr. Tim Kimmel brings hope, help and healing in this radical approach to marriage. Don’t miss this life-changing event! Friday, 6:30-8:30 pm | Saturday, 9-12 pm Registration Opens June 25 at www.taylorsfbc.org/marriage Register Early: $25/person June 25-July 23 ($35/person beginning July 24) Childcare Provided with Registration by August 7.
