May 2021
Dear Church Family, We have so much to be thankful for. Every day that I serve at Taylors FBC is a blessing. God is at work in so many ways. My joy is to get to watch Him work in the life of our church. Just this morning, I was able to meet with a couple that is looking to go overseas with the International Mission Board. They are an older couple and their children are grown. It was a joy to hear how they are considering ways to serve overseas in the next few years. This past Sunday, I was able to eat lunch with Alex Smith, our Minister of College Students, and about 50 college students. Sitting with them and hearing how Taylors FBC has become a home away from home while they are at school makes me thankful. Many of them have come from around the country. Some were from Seattle, Washington, and they have loved being a part of this ministry. Just today, I learned that we have three more to baptize this Sunday. What a joy! God is at work here, and I am thankful. From our members to our ministries, I get to watch and listen to story after story of God’s faithfulness. That never gets old – I am thankful! Your Pastor, Josh

SECRET CHURCH The Great Imbalance
I had the privilege of attending Secret Church in April in the Fellowship Hall. My wife, Kathy, and I have participated in Secret Church the last few years and have truly enjoyed it. If you love the Word of God, you will love Secret Church. David Platt takes a topic and does an indepth study into God's Word. This year the title was The Great Imbalance. It certainly changed my opinion on how I will support missions, where I will spend my mission dollars and my time. I won't spoil it because I pray that each member of Taylors takes the time to watch it. If it does not bless you then let me know and I will refund your ten dollars, the cost of the booklet. I hope you will watch this year's event and join me next year. It is one of those things that once you commit to attending you can't wait until next years Secret Church. Blessings, Jim Tankersley
It's not too late to take part in Secret Church. You can watch it virtually now through May 31. Register at taylorsfbc.org/events or in the Church Center App. Only $10. Pick up a Study Guide in the Church Office. TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 7
LOVE TAYLORS
Serving our neighbors, building relationships, and sharing the love of Jesus.
JUST FOR TODAY RECOVERY MINISTRY At the Singles Fellowship April luncheon, attendees heard a powerful testimony from Cassandra Brayboy of Just for Today Recovery Ministry. Cassandra shared her own journey with addiction and recovery, and is now the owner of four recovery houses that house 24 women. Three of these houses are a few minutes from Taylors FBC and one is located in Greer. Cassandra has touched many lives over the course of her ministry and gives God the glory for rescuing her from addiction and then allowing her to provide a lifeline to other women.
Pictured at the luncheon with Cassandra Brayboy is Linda Norman who leads our Love Taylors ministry to Just for Today.
Every month a group of Taylors volunteers visit women from Just for Today to share a devotional, breakfast, and fellowship. These same volunteers also serve as mentors and lead Bible study with our Just for Today friends. God continues to use Cassandra, Linda, and our volunteers to invest in lives of those seeking freedom from addiction.
SINGLE MOMS' OIL CHANGE COVID brought change in almost every area of ministry, including Single Moms' Oil Change. After over 15 years of ministry to single moms through a free oil change several times a year, we agreed the ministry was now more vital than ever. However, we also knew it would be unsafe to host a large number of women and children in our Ministry Center. Our faithful leaders came up with a plan to offer free oil change vouchers to women, and in August and December of 2020 we hosted a “drive through” for women to pick up a devotional guide with a free oil change voucher attached. Women were warmly welcomed by volunteers who also offered to pray with them. At our April 2021 oil change we added a “Prayer Tent” and encouraged women to pull aside after receiving their voucher to visit the tent for prayer. We praise the Lord for every woman who was encouraged, had a few moments of fellowship with believers, and was covered in prayer. 8 | TAYLORSFBC.ORG
REACH PARTNER HIGHLIGHT
Serving in Sweden and Wales
SERVING IN SWEDEN We are Marcus, Sarah Beth, and Elias. Our family has served with the International Mission Board (IMB) in East Asia since 2018. We loved our time in East Asia and treasure the opportunity the Lord has given us there. Now, the Lord has directed our path to a new location. We are working toward visa approvals, so that we can move to and serve Swedish peoples. The Lord showed us a clear need for more kingdom laborers in Sweden. Because of His leading, we are now looking forward to joining what the Lord is doing in Stockholm. Marcus, Sarah Beth and Elias
Sweden is one of the most secularized and unreached of the Nordic countries. Stockholm is a city of global influence. Though there are many Swedish nationals living in the city, Stockholm is also home many immigrants and refugees. Peoples from every corner of the world are living together in one place. We have felt God call us to join, assist, and encourage Swedish believers. We want to join with them in the work of sharing the gospel with Swedish peoples and the nations that have come to Stockholm! We believe that the Lord is using the Swedish church to impact the world for Christ through domestic and international church planting. We are looking forward to our move to Stockholm, Sweden. We are asking the Lord to prepare our hearts and show us His work among European peoples. We want you to join us in prayer for them. As we prayerfully remember East Asia and turn towards Europe, we feel how much of a new experience this will be for our family. Please pray for our transition, our visa process, and our upcoming move. Also, pray for Stockholm and ask that the Lord would bring many to know Him there and strengthen His Church among Swedish peoples. We are excited about what the Lord is doing there! Will you please join us in praying for European peoples? Much Love, Marcus, Sarah Beth and Elias
SERVING IN WALES Hi all! My name is Hannah, and I’m serving in Cardiff, Wales, with the IMB through their Journeyman Program. I was originally set to serve in Southeast Asia, but through a crazy turn of events, the Lord graciously brought me to Cardiff instead. What a huge blessing this transition has been! I currently work at our church plant, Redeemer Church, here in Cardiff where my teammate and I serve through the children’s ministry, and also lead discipleship opportunities, outreach events, evangelism training, and outdoor clubs. Pray for the people in the area surrounding our church, Splott and Adamsdown, that we as a church would be able to reach them, love them, and serve them as the body of Christ! TAYLORSFBC.ORG | 9
