ENGAGE THE WORLD Dear Church Family, A pastor shared a wonderful illustration recently about taking next steps. He was putting down large stones in his yard in order to create a new pathway to his house. Throughout the process of putting them down, his children would come behind him and jump from stone to stone. But he noticed when the stones were too far apart, his children would simply stop, knowing they couldn't make the leap. So he simply put another stone in the gap making it easier to take the next step and continue down the path. This is what we've done with the value of Reaching the Unreached at Taylors. We've put in place some stones that take you from step to step along the pathway of reaching others with the gospel. In particular, on Sunday, October 15, we unveiled our 2018 REACH short-term mission trips that give every member a way to experience sharing the gospel in an environment outside our context and culture. Locally, our Love Taylors leaders continue to think through how we can reach our community in the shadows of our steeples through various hands-on projects that serve the needs of many. Whether it's an entire week or single Saturday, across the pond or across the street, a different ethnic group or different neighborhood, check out the following pages for ways you can take that simple next step in becoming the disciple-maker Jesus designed you to be and reach those who are lost with His great love.

Paul Jimenez, Pastor

PRAGUE Dear Taylors FBC, Thanks for your long-term support and your top-notch care for our team throughout the years. I was excited when I heard how you chose to adopt Bohnice (City district in North Prague) a few years ago. It was also great to hear how you were praying in our neighborhood even before we signed up to come to Prague. Here is a quick update from our work together in the gospel: Our family moved to Prague in the fall of 2015. In IMB Europe, they have a language mark we all must hit before we are “free” to do full-time ministry. In some countries that can take only a year. For Slavic language countries, it takes between two years and thirty months. We are on schedule, but still in the daily grind of language learning through December. Of course, just because much of our time is spent on language, it does not mean we aren’t moving forward with other things. We have spent a considerable amount of time getting to know our neighborhood and neighbors. Our kids are in Czech school so we also know a lot of people through that connection. We have been able to share the gospel in Czech and English on a number of occasions. We have also helped with some Bible studies for unbelievers alongside another cross-cultural church planter. All of these things are ground work for church planting. Church Planting: When we arrived the plan from our first team leader was to partner with a Czech Baptist church in the middle of the city. They had done some evangelism in our current neighborhood (30,000 people without a single church) and thought maybe it would be a good place for us. So that is why we live here and are working to plant a church in this particular neighborhood. The Czech Baptist pastors have been supportive but are not experienced in church planting. They think it is a good idea, but do not provide any direction for us as we engage our area. In the time we have spent learning language, however, another cross-cultural church planter has moved into the neighborhood. He is very experienced, very good at the language, and has planted a few churches in other parts of Prague. He and his Czech church also have much more developed plans for church planting. From the beginning we have discussed how we can work together. Just recently, with our team leader’s blessing and open conversations with the Baptists, we have agreed to plant a church together. The goal is to have a church planting team assembled by the spring of 2018. Future Outlook: Our family has eight months before the end of our first term. We look forward to finishing our language study and beginning broader evangelism efforts. By next summer there will be many who have been invited to hear the gospel, a growing number who have personally heard the good news, and possibly some new believers. We also would like to host a few group worship opportunities for believers/seekers in the neighborhood just to see who comes “out of the woodwork.” We are scheduled to be in the states July 2018 – January 2019. Upon returning we plan to come back to the same neighborhood. It would be a great success to see a thriving church planted by the end of our next term (2019-2023). Thanks for your partnership in the Gospel, Adam, Amy, Eden, Bennett and Owen Reinking

To join our REACH Team going to serve with the Reinkings in May 2018, please contact Kristin Evans at 864-678-8838 or kristine@taylorsfbc.org.

The Stage Is Set by Bryant Wright Even a cursory glance at the news is enough to convince us that the world is falling into chaos. But God is still in control of His creation – and He keeps His promises. This book illuminates the signs of the times that point toward Christ’s glorious appearing and millennial reign, answering questions you have about the identity of the antichrist, the future of Israel, the location of Armageddon, and more. He is coming. Soon. And His people must be ready. Are you?

Our Church Family Thank You

“The response to the reception given in our honor by the members of Taylors First Baptist Church was overwhelming. Who would have thought that many members would have been able to come out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Our hearts are filled with gratitude for every caring word spoken, every considerate thought shared, and every compliment sincerely given. We came away from the reception saying to each other we are so thankful to have such a sweet fellowship where we can be part of the rest of our lives. We thank God for you.” Gayle and Jimmie E.
