Fort Ricassoli
The new home of Azian hotels Azian hotel Malta finds a new home. On a major movement with the Government of Malta, the construction of the future Azian Malta and Ultra Luxury Integrated destination has been moved to the largest and most important medieval fortification of the region called Fort Ricassoli which also has been home for some of the most important movies of Hollywood history including Gladiator, Troy and Game of Thrones. The location has also been home for Tayrona’s multi-million production “Agora”. The new location will allow Tayrona to integrate not only the most luxurious resort in the Caribbean but also the first Major Movie studio in the region.
The medieval fortress, Fort Ricassoli is the largest and most important hotel in the entire region, set to become part of the Hotel and Resort group Azian Hotels run by Tayrona in the archipelago of Malta. The region of Malta is rich in history, best encapsulated in this ancient and famed fortress, Fort Ricassoli is best known for being the set for Hollywood feature films such as The Gladiator, Troy, Assassins Creed and acclaimed television series like Game of Thrones. Fort Ricassoli is set to be the new home of Azian hotels in The Mediterranean.
Over 300 years of history, the knight's fortress is located around the Harbor of Malta, it was on a tentative list ran by UNESCO for being declared a world heritage site. A partnership with the Maltese government will permit Tayrona to take the most luxurious resort from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, as well as allow the first permanent studio facilities to welcome blockbuster projects to the country. The alliance between the Maltese government and Tayrona Capital are planning restoration works due to commence which will include cleaning and reconstruction of missing sections of the limestone, painstakingly restoring deteriorated masonry and collapsed structures, as well as structural consolidation, all in a bid to maintain the authentic personality of this famed construction.
In addition to the preserverance of the culture and history of Fort Ricassoli, which has represented strength for Maltese people through a millennium, various recreational locations will be built alongside historical monuments.
