This paper explores the 21st-century mineral rush driven by growing demand for critical metals like lithium, nickel, and cobalt—key components in lithium-ion batteries fueling the green energy revolution. Against the backdrop of past and present mineral rushes, it highlights the environmental, social, and ethical impacts of mining in regions like the Lithium Triangle, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Indonesia. The proposed scenario envisions revitalizing a coal power plant into a community-driven hub fostering a symbiotic relationship with the environment. Addressing sustainability challenges in mining and green technologies, the thesis promotes transformative dialogue on responsible resource extraction, aiming for harmony between mineral rushes, environmental preservation, and societal well-being.
