Acoustics: - Children with sensory issues can find sound to be quite DISABILITIES challenging, and it can make them very distracted and find it hard to retain patience and concentration for what they are doing.

Lighting:

- You should always look to use indirect lighting, if you can, as it helps them to stay calm and feel more comfortable.

Colors:

- Matte colors tend to work best, with a more muted tone often helping your child to feel more comfortable and to ensure they can handle life a little easier.

Space Planning:

- Many children with sensory issues will find long corridors disconcerting. - Divide areas for certain activities, where possible, and segregate by color etc. (through use of floor finishes, different colored shelving, etc.). - If possible, create at least one area where children can explore on their own and parents can supervise safely from the sidelines. - Make sure to use good signage and labeling that incorporates recognizable pictures.
