The British International School Madinaty Year Book 2013-2014

"Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten." -B. F. Skinner-

A Warm Welcome In today’s rapidly changing and demanding world it is important that children, from an early age, should have a breadth of opportunity to develop their abilities and potential while enjoying the benefit of a caring, structured and secure environment. We believe that just such a blend of opportunity and challenge exists at The British International School, Madinaty for boys and girls from the age of 2½. Children are encouraged to seek high standards in academic, creative, sporting and the many other areas of school life. At the same time we think of ourselves as a family school and regard the happiness of the individual boy and girl, at whatever level of achievement, as of vital importance to their personal progress. The British International School, Madinaty offers children more than an education; it offers them a childhood. Visitors describing their first impressions of the school nearly always comment on how happy and friendly The British International School, Madinaty children appear to be. Strong moralistic values underpin all aspects of school life. Recognition is given to the importance of co-operation between home and school. We believe that school should be an extension and reflection of a caring home, and a preparation for later life in which all must live and work together. Our attitude to discipline also follows from this need for blend and balance. Firm rules exist, but emphasis is also placed on developing personal responsibility and self-discipline as necessary requirements within a community which values honesty, integrity and initiative. The British International School, Madinaty has a clear vision and an exciting future. We invite you to visit us during term time, to meet staff and pupils and to see this unique school for yourself. Appointments can be made through the reception desk. I can assure you that you will receive a warm welcome. Ian M. Dobie B.Ed. Head of Primary
