Public’s Stadium Garden 2016 Thesis Project Location: St. Louis, MO Software: Rhino, VRay, AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop This thesis focused on rethinking the urban stadium and its place in relation to the city. The project featured a redesigning of the existing Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri for a new MLS franchise while also serving as a public park for the community’s use on non-game days. Rather than having the stadium sit awkwardly within the city, left empty most days, this thesis intends to rethink how this space can be utilized on a daily basis, connecting fragments of space and linking different parts of the city together for an ‘open’ stadium which has the capacity to lure new groups of people to the neighborhood.

There is a common stadium problem in the world nowadays as many stadiums are heavily funded by the public, yet members of the community can only inhabit the venues on game-day or event-day. This should be challenged and rather than having the stadium sit empty on most days, we should rethink how the space can be utilized daily. By integrating a renovated stadium with the city and implementing parks and green spaces, the community’s daily use of the stadium is facilitated.

Terence Cardinal Cooke Hospital Status: 2019 - On-going Location: New York, NY Software: Revit, AutoCAD, EnScape

This project consisted of renovations to multiple floors of the hospital wing of the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center, in collaboration with another architecture firm, Dalpos Architects. Our focus was on the basement and first floor of the hospital wing with the project including a kitchen relocation at basement level, a lobby renovation, and restroom renovations at first floor. The first floor design aims to create a more inviting and appealing entrance to the lobby space with respect to the original design by picking up on existing material usage as well as design characteristics.

As for the basement level, the relocation of the kitchen was the driving factor in the layout along with spaces required for the renovation work at the 7th and 8th floors by another firm. Along with the design scope of the project, the construction timeline and client’s wishes created additional coordination efforts for us to accurately represent the work in multiple phases and construction packages.

Designing a kitchen renovation for my grandmother, who lives in Barbados, was both a professional as well as a personal achievement. As an elderly woman, moving in and out as well as within the existing kitchen was uncomfortable and certainly not ideal. The design prioritized accessibility and a more spacious layout as opposed to the previous congested design. Relocating the refrigerator and removing the cabinetry subdividing the kitchen and dining space were the basis for design.

The Bellevue Men’s Shelter is New York City’s largest homeless men’s shelter accommodating approximately 850 men per night. The building opened in 1933 and initially housed the psychiatric ward of the Bellevue Hospital before becoming the homeless shelter it is today in PHOTO #1 – NORTH CENTRAL VIEW 1984 once the psychiatric ward moved into the new Bellevue Hospital next door.

Bellevue was a major project for the firm given the political ramifications and scope of the project. Inspections have shown the building to have multiple unsafe conditions and safety violations, including one incident where a piece of the terra cotta cornice fell onto the sidewalk. The scope of this project includes restoration and renovation of the building’s facades and cornices including brick, limestone, and terra cotta replacements, as well as a separate package for the roof replacement work.

As a result of the implications the facade reconstruction work would have on the interior of the building, residents needed to be relocated according to the areas of construction. I led the design efforts of this phase of the project, while presenting the schematic designs to clients and being approved with the layouts. With this being a homeless men’s shelter with the aim of remaining open while under construction, certain wings and floors of the building needed to be refitted and designed to

Liberty Island Lockers Enclosure Status: 2019 (Unbuilt) Location: New York, NY Software: SketchUp

For this project, ADP was asked to develop a few conceptual designs for a lockers area Liberty Island. The client’s goal was to present a conceptual design to the National Park Service as an alternative to what has been installed currently on site. Elements Fitness Status: 2018 (Unbuilt) Location: New York, NY Software: SketchUp, AutoCAD

Elements Fitness is a health and fitness brand which combines barre, dance and stretch into total body fusion workouts. With one studio currently residing in East Hampton, NY the company was interested in opening another studio in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The existing 2nd floor location was designed to include a reception area with retail space for company apparel, an office, break room for instructors, a secondary office with the flexibility of being used as a studio, and the main studio. The main studio is an open fitness area including light weights, floor mats, barres, and wall hung mirrors along with features from the company’s existing studio.
