Dear Tchefuncta Country Club Members,
In preparation of Hurricane Francine, the Country Club enacted its comprehensive preparedness and recovery plan for all divisions and assets. These plans were followed and gave the Club its best chance to absorb any damages and react to any of the unforeseen circumstances.
The water that remained on the golf course following the storm was unfortunately from river levels and storm surge not just rain or wind. As the crew determined that one of the two permanent pumps shorted out Friday afternoon, actions were taken to rent a 6' diesel pump to aide in the removal of water. This was done 24 hours prior to the water level cresting. By Monday afternoon, the crew had two 6' diesel pumps assisting to remove water and a third 6' pump on Tuesday morning.
Having assessed that amount of water on the golf course, the Club will continue to evaluate the best solutions to remove water more quickly and efficiently. There are significant monetary implications to any enhancements so any evaluation will need to consider those impacts.
