Dear Potential New Member, On behalf of TCU Fraternity & Sorority Life, we would like to welcome you to the formal Panhellenic Recruitment process! We are very excited that you are interested in becoming a member of our extraordinary community. Our community prides itself on unity, living our values, and building better women. Our members are consistently some of the most involved women on campus while demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence, service and philanthropy, sincere friendship, leadership, and personal development. Recruitment week will give you the opportunity to learn more about each of the 12 National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) organizations on our campus, along with the values they uphold while striving to elevate our larger community. The formal recruitment process is rooted in both Panhellenic and TCU spirit, allowing us to celebrate something bigger than ourselves. We invite you to take part in this celebration by maximizing your opportunity to build relationships with your Rho Gamma (recruitment guide), the women in all 12 chapters, and your fellow PNMs (potential new members). Entering into the recruitment process is a privilege and therefore it is paired with a certain level of responsibility. We expect that each of our PNMs will treat each other and all of our sorority women with dignity, respect, and kindness. We have zero tolerance for comments or behavior that could be hurtful to any of our chapter members or PNMs. Most importantly, we encourage you to be yourself and have fun! As you consider making this life-long commitment, take some time to reflect on your personal values and what you hope to gain while being in a sorority. This could range from enhancing your leadership skills and gaining a support system to expanding your network and challenging yourself to be a better person. If you have any questions, please review our website at www.tcupanhellenic.org, as we believe that all of the information you need to be prepared for recruitment can be found there. If additional questions arise, please submit them on the question form found on the Contact page of www.greeks.tcu.edu. We look forward to meeting you and providing you with guidance throughout this process! Please know that our staff is here for you as a resource and source of support during recruitment and beyond. We wish you the best of luck and encourage you to have an open mind and open heart throughout the week. Interfraternally,

Devin Gregory Coordinator, Fraternity & Sorority Life

Brooke Scogin Director, Fraternity & Sorority Life

Dear Potential New Members, The women of TCU Panhellenic are so excited to welcome you to our community, campus, and the Horned Frog Family. There is no better time to start wearing purple than 2015! Our Panhellenic community is constantly growing and evolving along with our campus. Our sororities pride themselves on having a long-standing tradition of excellence and high standards. By joining this legacy, you will find countless opportunities to become a leader, serve the community, participate in philanthropic activities, and establish long-lasting relationships. All twelve NPC sororities at TCU are outstanding organizations that give their members the opportunity to become the best that they can be, both in and out of the classroom. Sororities are more than just social organizations. They facilitate the growth and development of their members through leadership, community service, scholarship, and sisterhood. By providing a collegiate experience that is both unforgettable and irreplaceable, membership in a Panhellenic sorority has enriched our lives and will continue to have a positive impact beyond our college years. Being a part of a sorority will provide a sense of belonging and will serve as a home away from home for new members throughout their college experience. We encourage each of you to enjoy this week of Formal Recruitment and embrace all that it has to offer. You will have the opportunity to visit each chapter and experience what it would be like to join their sisterhood. Each day will provide you with new and exciting information about each chapter. From philanthropy to sisterhood, each chapter has something unique to offer. We hope that each of you will keep an open mind and give each chapter a chance to show you what you could potentially be a part of. Finally, we wish you a recruitment filled with fun, friendship, and great memories to start your college experience. Feel free to check out our website (www.tcupanhellenic.org) and see what Panhellenic life has to offer. If you have any questions regarding Formal Recruitment 2015, do not hesitate to contact the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office at (817) 2577281 or www.greeks.tcu.edu. We cannot wait to meet you this August as we continue to celebrate Fraternity and Sorority Life at Texas Christian University. Go Greek and Go Frogs! Jessica Benninghoff VP of Recruitment Operations

Dear Potential New Member, On behalf of the Texas Christian University Panhellenic Community, I would like to welcome you to TCU! Becoming a Horned Frog was the best decision I ever made and I hope you will find the same! Congratulations on your decision to participate in Panhellenic Formal Recruitment. You are considering joining the largest female organization on TCU’s campus! My name is Chandler Thomas and I have the honor of serving as the 2015 Panhellenic Council President, which is the governing body of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities on campus. At TCU we are fortunate to have twelve NPC sororities on campus, representing over 2,500 women on campus. Our membership numbers are evidence of the strong influence that sorority women have on campus and we are very proud of our Greek community. Sororities at TCU are values based organizations and each has something unique to offer. You will find the Panhellenic community is composed of well rounded women who strive for excellence in academics, campus involvement and community service while creating meaningful and long lasting relationships. I encourage you to take full advantage of the recruitment experience and all that it has to offer. It is my hope that by the end of the week you will meet some new friends, feel more connected to TCU, learn about the Panhellenic Sorority community firsthand and hopefully find a home away from home on campus! While Greek life might be your first step toward getting involved on campus, please do not let it be your last. TCU offers numerous opportunities for student involvement, and I encourage you to consider and pursue these various avenues for student engagement. Good Luck and Go Frogs! Best, Chandler Thomas Panhellenic President

Recruitment guides, known as Rho Gammas, are selected women from the Panhellenic Sorority community who disaffiliate from their respective chapters during the recruitment process. Their mission is to guide Potential New Members (that’s you!) through recruitment. Rho Gammas are selected through an application process based on leadership abilities, counseling skills, and passion for the Panhellenic community. Approximately 95 women are chosen each spring to undergo training for the position of Rho Gamma. Recruitment guides will be available all throughout the recruitment process as guides, unbiased listeners, and friends. 11

Recruitment Attire at a Glance Round One (Day 1 and 2)

What to expect: Round one (day 1 and 2) is scholarship round. This round will be the longest, but it is split up into two days. Make sure you take detailed notes so you can remember each chapter you visit. On day 1 and 2, you will be visiting all twelve chapters with your Rho Gammas and your recruitment group. You may talk to more than one active member inside each chapter and they will be asking you questions to get to know you better! This round has the shortest conversations, so make sure to ask any questions you may have! There will be loud cheering when you enter and when you exit. The women have been practicing songs all semester, so enjoy! What to wear: You’ll receive a white Panhellenic t-shirt when you attend PNM Orientation on August 15th. Pair it with some nice shorts or a cute skirt that are light (it is going to be HOT!) Jean shorts are OK! Make sure you wear comfortable shoes that are already broken in because you and your group will be doing a lot of walking this day!

14

Recruitment Attire at a Glance Round Two (Day 3)

What to expect: On Round two (day 3) you will receive a schedule in the morning. During round two, a PNM can visit up to 9 chapters, but it is rare to have a full schedule. You must attend every chapter on your schedule to remain in the process. Because everyone receives their own schedule, you will be traveling on your own from now on. But don’t worry - Rho Gammas will be stationed around Worth Hills to direct you! There is also a map located on page 46 of your booklet. On round two, the chapters will focus on their philanthropy. This is the time to talk about service, the programs you participated in during high school, and those you want to participate in in college. This round you may talk to two or three women per chapter. This day is where the members get to know you personally! What to wear: On day 3, it is appropriate to wear a casual shirt and short or skirt combo. A romper would also be appropriate! You will still be doing a lot of walking, so flats or sandals are suggested. Check out our Pinterest page for ideas for outfits!

15

Recruitment Attire at a Glance Round Three (Day 4)

What to expect: Just like round two, you will receive your individual schedule in the morning. On this day, you will visit a maximum of 6 chapters. This day is devoted to learning what makes each chapter different from the others! There will be a funny/entertaining skit for you to watch as well! Ask questions during this round - find out why the active member joined that sorority and what sisterhood means to her. What to wear: Think Sunday brunch! Many women wear sundresses with wedges on this day! If you choose to wear heels or wedges, it may be smart to bring flip flops you can wear on the walk between chapters and for the walk back to the BLUU!

16

Recruitment Attire at a Glance Round Four (Day 5)

What to expect: Again, you will receive your individual schedule at the beginning of the day. By this time, you have probably mastered being on your own! On round four, you will be visiting a maximum of 3 chapters. Like always, you must attend all your events to remain eligible! This day is all about finding what chapter fits you the best. There will probably be songs sung by each chapter as well. This is a very sentimental time for all the active chapter members, especially seniors. Once you are finished with your events, you will proceed to the BLUU. It is very important to talk to your Rho Gammas before you leave Worth Hills. You will not be able to talk to your Rho Gammas once you enter the BLUU. What to wear: Preference round, round four, is the dressiest of days. A nice cocktail dress (think semi-formal dresses) is the usual go-to for this round. Typically chapter members wear black or white dresses, so you may want adjust your wardrobe so you do not blend in! Avoid long prom dresses, it’s still HOT HOT HOT!

17

Recruitment Attire at a Glance Bid Day (Day 6)

What to expect: You will arrive and find your recruitment group. From there, your Rho Gammas will pass out the envelope with your bid card in it. You will have to sit (yes sit) on the envelope until you are instructed to open it! Then- chaos! Welcome to the TCU Panhellenic community. What to wear: On bid day you can wear any shorts you want! You will also want to wear a tank top that you could easily put a Bid Day shirt over. It would be a good idea to be comfortable, you never know what the bid day activity is going to be! WHAT NOT TO WEAR Watches: Out of respect for our active chapter members, we ask that you do not wear watches at any time during recruitment. This is to make sure that you aren’t unintentionally checking the time during an event. Don’t worry about keeping time - all of our recruitment staff including Rho Gammas and Recruitment Team will make sure to keep you on schedule! Cell Phones: Leave your cell phones in your Residence Hall! Leaving your phone behind ensures that you will have ample time to interact and befriend other PNMs! This will also allow for you to make a decision yourself, without confiding with anyone via text. If, for some reason, an emergency arises and you need to contact your family, we will work with you based on your individual needs. Purses: There is no need to bring your purse to the chapters during recruitment. We provide every PNM with a clear plastic bag that will remain under the tent while you are inside the chapters. You will be able to store any make-up, hair brushes, or mints in your plastic bag! Perfume: With so many women in one small space, a huge cloud of different perfumes can be very over-whelming. Ditch the perfume, but don’t hesitate to wear deodorant!
