Man dies a week after shooting

A TWENTY-year-old man has died in hospital from a major injury after he was shot from close range in his Kew Town home last week.

Bursley Dolcine was shot in the upper body at about 3am on June 16 and died on Wednesday (June 24). The culprit has not been found.

The brutal killing brings the tally so far this year to 13 - the same as the total number of homicides in 2019, which was the highest ever recorded in the TCI.

The police press office said on the evening in question an armed man entered the Duck Yard home and shot his victim.

The injured man was taken to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre with a single gunshot wound to his upper body where he received immediate care.

On Thursday, Nikira John of TCI Hospital told the Weekly News: “The patient’s condition did not improve and continued to decline to an irreversible state as a result of the major injuries.

“The patient remained on life support for some time and was supported by the critical care team.

“Sadly, the young patient succumbed to the injuries today. Our hearts are with the family and deepest condolences for their loss.”

The Serious Crimes Unit of the Royal TCI Police Force is investigating the homicide.

Commissioner of Police Trevor Botting said: “Thoughts and prayers are with the family and those who knew the young man who died early this morning.

“The details surrounding this latest murder is still under investigation and my officers need your help.
