Job Summary

The Workforce Development Officer develops positive long-term relationships with business and industry representatives. He or She supports and strengthens relationships with business and industry to address workforce needs and assist with building talent. He or she will provide leadership and supervision to industry sector partnerships “clusters” and lead in creating workforce solutions for business and industry to increase human capital development.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Gathering labour market information, talent demand and skills requirements and translating data into meaningful information to create workforce development strategies.

• Meeting with local industry representatives to determine workforce and or talent needs.

• Assessing the business organisations and providing a comprehensive evaluation of employment and training needs.

• Working collaboratively with relevant programmes and faculty to develop partnerships and linkages with businesses, industry, and community in procuring internship opportunities.

• Creating a formal Internship/Job Shadow Programme and developing an

Internship Handbook for both students and employers.

• Providing coaching and counselling to students on professional skills and tools such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, and other job acquirement strategies including setting up mock interview sessions with students and business partners.

• Organize internal and external Career Fair activities

• Developing and maintaining relationships with training providers to develop necessary and responsive workforce solutions.

• Providing opportunities for business and industry to assist with developing training programmes to include apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing and work-based learning.

• Building and maintaining productive relationships with public-sector, private-sector and non- profit employers to create career pathways for future talent.

• Building and maintaining strong partnerships with economic development entities, chamber organisations and other workforce development agencies to ensure alignment and execution of collaborative workforce strategies to include: Talent Pipeline Management.

• Providing oversight and management of industry sector partnerships “clusters” and any workforce solutions and/or outputs that result from “Cluster” input.

• Gathering information for additional funding opportunities to support workforce solutions and programming.

• Developing and managing a database of employers and/or industry representatives and maintaining regular communication through appropriate channels.

• Researching the necessary skills needed for emerging job classifications, which are prominent throughout the TCCIC service area.

• Working with and establishing partnerships with regional trade associations, economic development agencies, business/industry to identify emerging skills and hiring trends.

• Performing other related responsibilities as may be assigned.

TRADE WIND INDUSTRIES LTD.

Trade wind Industries Ltd. seeks to employ a Labourer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the domestic cultivation of Caribbean queen conch and a familiarity with warm water fin fish. The position involves of cleaning and waste removal from conch ponds, fish tanks, sorting, counting, relocating and harvesting of conch and fish / repairs and maintenance to off-shore conch pens. 50% of this job is spent in sea water and applicants need to be expert swimmers and skilled at working underwater with a snorkel. Other related duties and necessary duties may be assigned.

Compensation at $8.00 per hour.
