Graceway communities host third annual Earth Day Market

Graceway Communities, the charitable arm of Graceway Supermarkets held their annual Earth Day Farmer Market on April 22, 2023, under the theme “Invest in our Planet”, as the backdrop.

According to information from the charity, the focus was also on preserving and protecting "Our Coral Reefs”.

The charity of choice this year and the recipient of all funds raised was the Turks and Caicos Reef Fund.

Commenting on Earth Day 2033 Latoya Walkin, Communications Manager at

Graceway Supermarkets, stated “Despite outstanding achievement and decades of environmental advancement, we now face a set of even more serious, nearly unmanageable global concerns, from biodiversity loss to climate change to plastic pollution, which calls for action from all tiers of government as well as businesses of all kinds.

“On April 22, Earth Day serves as a platform to show support for environmental preservation.

“Originally held on April 22, 1970, it currently consists of a wide range of events that have been planned globally as we stand with one billion people in more than 193 nations who are trying to change the world.”

Walkin further noted “Making this event yearly is something we at Graceway Supermarkets are delighted to do in support of the Turks and Caicos Islands, which is more sustainable for both our generation and the one after.

The Department of Agriculture, the DECR, Fortis TCI, Flamingo Pharmacy, and the TC Reef Fund were also partners with Graceway this year.

Residents can also view the Royal Coronation at their own leisure at 6am local time from their homes and the service is expected to last for 90 minutes.

Graceway Supermarkets has been supporting local communities in the Turks and Caicos Islands since 1998 and in early 2019 it introduced Graceway Communities, an umbrella for all “the social and charitable efforts for the good of the Turks and Caicos Islands”.
