“The classic tier gave me access to multiple gyms in my area. I’m signed up with LA Fitness, which is usually $40 to $50 a month. With One Pass it’s $30 a month, and I can also sign up for additional gyms without having to pay more. The pass also covers all associated fees and gives you access to online programs. With everything I signed up for, it could have cost me $80. With this I’m only paying $30. So far it’s working great!”

HEART HEALTH
Heart Health: Heart Rate Matters When You Exercise
E
verything you do helps your heart keep the beat. Did you know that your heart beats on average around 100,000 times each day? Walking up a flight of stairs will make it go faster, as will being near someone you love. Sometimes, it will beat slower due to medications or medical conditions.
Your heart rate, or pulse, is the number of times your heart beats in 60 seconds. A healthy heart rate (rested, healthy and relaxed state) is between 60 and 100 beats per minute. When exercising, it’s important to know how hard your heart is working. First, calculate
your maximum heart rate by subtracting your age from 220. Intense physical activity, like running or a spin class, should put your heart rate within 70% to 85% of your maximum heart rate. During moderate physical activity like walking, your pulse should be within 50% to 70% of your maximum heart rate. Continued on next page

The heart needs this type of physical activity, where it beats faster and you breathe harder, to get strong. If you are new to cardiovascular exercise, start slowly with five minutes a day of any movement you are comfortable with and work your way up. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation: 150 minutes a week or 30 minutes, five days a week of moderate to vigorous activity.

ER OPTIONS
Save Money by Visiting an Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room
D + Chest pain + Difficulty breathing + Major burns
+ Minor broken bones + Stomach pain + COVID-19 symptoms
id you know there are alternatives to an Emergency Room visit that can save you time and money?
On average, you can save approximately $2,400 by going to an urgent care clinic instead of the emergency room. Urgent care clinics are a good option to receive care from licensed doctors and healthcare professionals for serious conditions that need immediate attention but aren’t life threatening. Find an urgent care clinic near you at myuhc.com, and be prepared in the event something unexpected happens. Teladoc is another great, FREE option to speak to a doctor over the phone or video for minor conditions. Sign up at teladoc.com to request an appointment.
