WE WORK INDIVIDUALLY WITH EACH SCHOOL TO DEVELOP A PARTNERSHIP THAT SUITS YOUR CONTEXT. Teach For Australia’s Leadership Development Program develops highly effective teachers and leaders, building their knowledge, skills and mindsets to ensure that they have a positive impact on students in your school and make a lifelong commitment to breaking the cycle of disadvantage.
SELECTION We have in place a highly rigorous process based on a stringent set of criteria.
The process is designed to ensure that every successful applicant has the qualities to succeed as an Associate.
PLACEMENT
We match Associates to your school’s culture, profile, curriculum and subject vacancies.
Associates fill a real vacancy at your school and commit to teaching for at least two years.
DEVELOPMENT We maximise the potential of Associates through pedagogical and leadership development. While teaching, Associates study towards a Master of Teaching (Secondary).
In the event that a match is not possible, we’ll let you know as soon as possible so that you can pursue other avenues.

We deliver executive-style intensive programs, online learning, bespoke professional development sessions and ongoing coaching and feedback. Associates are guided by a support network, including a Teaching and Leadership Adviser, school academic mentor and in- school mentor.
42% of Associates are placed to teach STEM subjects.
BEYOND On completion of the program, Associates meet the Proficient Standard under the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Eligibility for full registration allows Associates to be further employed at your school.
1 in 5 Associates are fluent in a language other than English.
OUR PARTNER SCHOOLS
WE PARTNER EXCLUSIVELY WITH SCHOOLS SERVING LOW SOCIOECONOMIC COMMUNITIES AND STRIVE TO BUILD SUSTAINED PARTNERSHIPS WITHIN THESE COMMUNITIES. We seek to ensure that students taught by Associates achieve significant academic growth, experience increased access to opportunities and develop positive attitudes and aspirations that propel them forward. To support Associate development, our partner schools commit to: •
providing each Associate with a supportive environment and an in-school mentor;
•
providing each Associate with a salary equivalent to approximately 80 per cent of a graduate teacher’s salary;
•
providing Associates with time release of 0.2 FTE to study and meet with their Teaching and Leadership Adviser, school academic mentor and in-school mentor;
•
providing each in-school mentor with sufficient time release to observe and meet with their Associate and to engage in professional learning;
•
allowing Associates to teach in method areas in which they are enrolled as part of their Master of Teaching; and
•
providing for Associates to teach in approved subject areas only.

Teach To Lead is a selective leadership development program for teachers with formal leadership roles in schools serving low socioeconomic communities. The program aims to bolster the capacity of your existing leadership team. Fellows work towards goals that align with your school’s strategic priorities, and receive tools and resources to share with others. Throughout the program, delivered via face-to- face and coaching sessions predominantly outside of school hours, Fellows learn to: •
build a high-performing team that works towards a shared vision;

lead sustainable change;
•
leverage personal strengths;
•
develop a strategic plan that aligns with their school’s priorities and uses data to drive goal-setting and evaluation;
•
coach individuals to drive a culture of improvement;
•
design and deliver high-impact professional development for teachers;

lead challenging conversations;
•
create a network of talented school leaders who share ideas and best practice;
•
build effective relationships with families in low socioeconomic communities; and
•
build personal resilience.
