FOR YOUR LACROSSE HELMETS? Football teams recondition their helmets nearly every season. It’s the best way for them to get the best value out of their equipment. It prolongs the life of the helmet and ensures the helmet is inspected and re-certified to the same standards as a new helmet. You should adopt the same reconditioning protocols as football teams.
THE BACKGROUND NOCSAE: Lacrosse helmet standards are developed by the National Operating Committee for Standards of Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE). All helmets used on a lacrosse field (new or reconditioned) must meet NOCSAE standards. NAERA: The National Athletic Equipment Reconditioning Association is sports’ governing body, ensuring all companies that recondition equipment are in compliance. 10 Year Policy: Per NAERA guidelines, lacrosse helmets ten years old or older cannot be reconditioned.
THE PROCESS We are a member in good-standing with NAERA and recondition and re-certify lacrosse helmets to NOCSAE standards. Here’s what happens when WE recon your helmets: Parts are removed, inspected, cleaned and sanitized. Helmets shells are inspected, cleaned and sanitized. Helmets are buffed/polished or painted as needed. (most lacrosse helmets cannot be painted). Snaps and cage hardware are replaced as necessary. Internal parts and cages are replaced as necessary. Helmets are drop tested randomly. Decals/stripes are installed if requested. Helmets are labeled with a NOCSAE recertification sticker. Rejected helmets, if requested, will be returned to the school or team. Helmets that are 10 years old or older will not be returned, per NAERA guidelines.
