TRIATHLETE OF THE MONTH- SHARON EVERING Family Information: Pups: Sparky – 8ish poodle jack russel mix – oh yeah, he is crazy Chloe – 2yr, lab/dobie/?? mix Boyfriend – James Cass If I wasn’t a _Dietitian, Manager of Food and Nutrition at St. Joseph's Hospital_ (real occupation), I would be a _owner of Sharon's Up/Down Cafe – the coolest coffee joint around. If only I did not need my job to pay my bills... _______ (dream job) Passions outside Triathlon: does running count as ―outside triathlon‖, besides that, working with my dogs, supporting local markets Key Race or goal for the season: hmm...there have been so many; first race at Crystal River, kicking the old guys A** with Juliet. I also remember something about a trip to SC, but maybe I was just delusional. Athletic history before triathlon: running, yoga, running, nothing that requires hand eye coordination Triathlete for how many seasons:1 Currently my bike is a: A PINK 2008 Cannondale Synapse Full Carbon, that occasionally gets to borrow a sweet pair of AOR wheels My dream bike is a don't laugh – I love Bianchi's. I am sucker for the old school look of the Bianchi urban city bikes, but they have a really sweet tri bike out 2009 D2 Crono Tri Carbon – oh YEAH!!! Philosophies: Live your life fully. When you do, you realize how happy you can be. And Do the things that inspire and scare you. It is the only way to grow. Biggest obstacle I overcame in becoming a triathlete: ummm h2o – WATER!!!! I was scared to death of getting in the water. Seriously!! I am still pretty sure I will be eaten by some sort of creature. What is your greatest triathlon moment or story? First would be completing my first triathlon (I survived) and then my second tri where I had my first 21:30 5K, I know, I know – emphasis on the run portion, but it's what I love. What inspires me is enjoying a beautiful run outside. Particularly this time of year – just a touch of chill in the air. I'm a northern girl – I love fall. If only I could see some corn fields down here it would be perfect!! My favorite part about triathlon is… really?? the run. Guilty Pleasures: good beer, expensive shoes, spending too much on tri-related ―stuff‖ Philosophies/Quotes/Mottos: You must do the things you think you cannot do.- Eleanor Roosevelt What drew you to Team Psych? The boyfriend – oh and the fact that the rest of you are CRAZY. I fit in :)

Fist off let me tell you this was a first class event. Usually they put on events like this for tennis and golf events, so we got the professional treatment from Longboat Key Resorts. From the moment we arrived for package pickup we did not eat again on our own dime til we arrived home for dinner Sunday nite. All meals were gourmet events with food prepared right before us Saturday by the culinary staff at the resort. Sunday morning breakfast before the event and an awesome lunch post event at the awards ceremony.
What race has folks to stretch you out before the race while waiting at the beach? Here’s a toast to Harry ― Hank‖ Williams who did both Suncoast and Longboat Key Triathlons on Saturday and Sunday. And placed 2nd in his age group on both days!

Dear El Fuego, I have only completed a Miami Man 70.3 and am on target to do Ironman in Panama City 2011. Is it ok if I get an Ironman logo tattoo on me now or should I wait til I complete the event next year? What is the rule on this ? Nicole
Dear Nicole, Wait a minute you want to put the coveted IM tattoo on you before you complete the distance! Before you go remember Ironman has now gone to 70.3, and soon will be going Olympic distance. When will it end ? Pool Swim Triathons? The idea of ironman is more respectable than the logo as they are creating franchises like Mc Donalds. I’m sure you do not want to put a tattoo of the golden arches on you? Do you? I suggest you get over all this nonsense and your worship of the IM logo and get real personal and put my image on you ! Its good at any distance for triathletes!
