01 Hold frame tightly on both sides & bend upward.

Bend until lens is released from the frame.

Pull lens down completely from the frame, repeat procedure on other lens.

INTERCHANGEABLE LENS REPLACEMENT GUIDE

Push inner end of lens into nose bridge grove until seated properly.

Put outer lens notch into frame grove.

Push until you hear a “click” to make sure the lens is securely locked in place. Repeat on the other side.

NOTE: Polycarbonate lenses and frame materials are tough and flexible so don’t be afraid to handle it with a bit of force. Changing lenses for the first time may be a bit hard as frame groves are still tight.

ANATOMY OF A MOTORCYCLE HELMET

ABS COMPOSITE SHELL Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is an advanced high impact polymer. It is fast becoming the preferred material for helmets because it better withstands environmental conditions. ABS is less rigid than fiberglass, giving it better shock absorption. It is also a more versatile material that can be injection molded into a more complicated shape. COOLING AERO VENTS Fully functional intake & exhaust ventilation ports are strategically positioned to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the helmet by dissipating heat & moisture from the inner liner. Vent hoods allow the ports to be open or shut when needed. SHATTERPROOF AND SCRATCH RESISTANT VISOR Polycarbonate lenses are thinner and lighter than traditional plastic helmet lenses. They also offer 100% ultraviolet (UV) protection and are up to 10 times more impact resistant than regular plastic lenses. Polycarbonate was developed for aerospace applications, and is also currently used for the helmet lenses of astronauts and for space shuttle windshields.

DUAL DENSITY EPS LINER The soft but firm layer of Expanded Polysterene (EPS) just beneath the fabric inner liner. This layer absorbs most of the energy in a crash and also provides channels to direct airflow inside the helmet. RETENTION SYSTEM Equipped with rapid-release buckles that can quickly and easily be fastened and unfastened with one hand. Spyderâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s new design eliminates the need to re-adjust the strap everytime the helmet is worn. Selected models are equipped with double-D retention strap for safer design required in most professional racing. REMOVABLE AND WASHABLE LINING Stay comfortably cool as Spyderâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s ultra absorbent and quick dry liners wicks moisture away from your head and into the interior of the helmet, where the ventilation system blows it dry. HELMET QUICK FIT TEST

MEASURE YOUR HEAD Determine the circumference of the widest part of your head. Use a flexible tape to measure the widest part of the head (usually 2.5cm (1”) above the ears). Measuring above and below this area to determine the greatest measurement before referring to our size guide. WEAR THE HELMET Helmets must fit snugly, but comfortably. While holding the chinstraps outside of the helmet, pull it down over your head, taking care that the chin straps do not go up inside the helmet. A proper fitting helmet will feel snug with fairly even pressurre around the sides and top of your head. The liner is designed to be a little extra snug at first, but will break-in after several hours of riding to match the particular shape of your head. As a rule, the helmet should not move around on your skin wthout pulling your skin. A loose fitting helmet is dangerous, and will also be noisy and tiring to wear. Don’t make the mistake of buying a helmet that’s too large. Fasten the chinstrap securely beneath your chin and make sure that the helmet cannot be removed from your head fastened.

Place your hands on each side of the helmet. Rotate the helmet from right to left then up and down. If the helmet padding slides easily, it is too big for you.

Test the retention system or chin strap by putting your hands on the back of the helmet and try to push the helmet off by rotating it forward. Then, put your hands on the front of the helmet above your forehead (or on the chin guard) and try to push the helmet off by rotating backward.

MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION Retail stores will not exchange helmets already worn for any length of time, so take your time, and wear the helmets inside the store for several minutes. Not every style/ model of helmet can fit every head size and shape. If you find that you just can’t get a comfortably snug fit in your chosen style/ model, try a different one.

SAFETY REMINDER No helmet can protect the wearer against all possible or foreseeable impacts. A helmet can only protect the position of the head that is covered by the helmet. for maximum protection, the helmet must be fit well with the chin strap securely and fastened. Failure to follow these instructions printed on the helmet may cause the helmet to come off during an accident that may result in a severe head injury or even death. While riding motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs is fun, it can also be dangeous. Ride responsibly, and always ride within the limits of your abilities.

SAFETY STANDARDS The DOT standard is a mandatory U.S government standard that all motorcycle helmets must meet to be legal for sale and use on public roads and highways. The ECE 22.05 is required by over 50 countries worldwide. Helmets certified by the ECE 22.05 standard are approved for competition by AMA, CCS, FIM, Formula-USA, and WERA. ECE helmets are also chosen by nearly every professional motorcycle racer competing in world championship road racing, motocross and off road events, including the ultimate sport of Moto GP. THE DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING PROCESS Helmet models for DOT FMVSS-218 or ECE 22.05 begins at the design stage. Using the latest available equipment and computer tools in the factory’s test facilities, prototype designs are repeatedly tested and refined until we are satisfied that they will meet or exceed the safety requirements for those markets where the particular model will be sold. Only after a helmet has passed both our internal tests & those implemented by our independent evaluators, will a new model be released for full production. HELMET LENS CARE Cleaning: Any spray on type chemical cleaner is not recommended. Chemicals in the cleaner result in haze build-up and distortion. Wash the lens with warm water and soft cloth only. Clean the lens as soon as dirt and debris have accumulated. If debris accumulates over time, clean the lens in several applications. This allows the debris to break down with every application. Excessive rubbing can lead to scratching as the hard debris can act as as cuffing agent. The same can occur if low grade rigid paper towels are used. PROPER FIT W A R N I N G Never buy a used helmet or borrow someone else’s helmet. Over time the protective foam in helmets will adjust to the contours of a user’s head. A used or borrowed helmet may not offer as much protection as a new helmet. Wearing the wrong size helmet can increase your risk of serious injury or death in an accident. W A R N I N G A helmet that is too large for your head may be dislodged or knocked off in an accident.

WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR HELMET Although your helmet is constructed with the best materials available to offer a long-lasting product, it will eventually need to be replaced. Immediately replace your helmet if: • It has suffered an impact. Your helmet is only designed for ONE impact. An impact may fracture the outer shell or compress the impact absorbing liner. You may not be able to detect this damage. Any impact in a crash or a drop from as low as 4 feet is enough to damage your helmet. • The shell, lining, or retention system is damaged. The helmet shell, the impact absorbing lining, and the retention system must be in good condition to provide you with the most protection. Even if your helmet has not been damaged, it needs to be replaced every 3 to 5 years depending on how much you use it. Over time, UV rays and adhesive and component aging will damage your helmet. Wearing a damaged helmet may increase your risk of serious injury or death in an accident. USING YOUR HELMET CORRECTLY To reduce the risk of serious injury or death and to help prevent damage to your helmet: • Never adjust your helmet accessories while riding Only make helmet adjustments when you are stationary. • Never drop your helmet. Dropping your helmet may crack the shell or damage the foam. The damage may not be visible to the human eye. • Never wear anything between your head and your helmet.This may reduce the effectiveness of your helmet. • Never hang or hook your helmet on anything including mirror stalks, handle bar, or sissy bars. Doing so may cause damage to the helmet protective foam or liner. • Never expose or use gasoline, gasoline fumes and insect repellent around your helmet. These may have chemicals that may damage your helmet’s visor, shell, foam, or other components. REDUCING THE RISK • Always wear eye protection – If you are not using a helmet with a face shield, always wear eye protection when riding. Always lock your face shield in place when you are riding. • Always be alert for sounds – Your helmet may impair your hearing. However, your helmet is not a form of hearing protection. • Always store your helmet in its helmet bag when not in use to help reduce accidental surface damage.

CONEHEAD TECHNOLOGY* This technology makes use of two different liners with different densities shaped like cones. CYCLING HELMET CORE COLLECTION

All Spyder cycling helmets are made using in-mold technology where the shock absorbing, high-density polystyrene (EPS) is directly fused into the micro shell, providing greater stability, lighter weight and the ability for more ventilation openings. The helmets also feature Pro Fit™ system with adjusting knobs and strap locks that can be operated with just one hand, guaranteeing a customized fit. Spyder cycling helmets conform to the EN 1078 international safety standard. Helmets provide the best protection against injury, especially in competition. Wearing a helmet can prevent about 85% of head injuries from bike crashes. However, a helmet will only protect when it fits well. Get in the habit of wearing a helmet every time you ride.

CHOOSING A HELMET Choose a helmet that fits safety standards. Look for a consumer product safety sticker inside the helmet. Never wear a helmet that is cracked, broken, or has been in a crash. Used helmets may have cracks you cannot see. Older helmets may not meet current safety standards. TWEAKING HELMET FIT Helmets come with fit pads to help insure a proper fit. Use the pads where there is space at the front, back and/or sides of the helmet to get a snug fit. Some models have adjustable retention strap to get an even better fit. Move pads around to touch your head evenly all the way around. SAFETY REMINDERS Bike helmets can be worn with inline roller skates. For skateboarding or snowboarding, you will need another type of helmet. Helmets are good only for one crash. Replace the helmet after a crash. KEEP HELMET OUT OF EXTREME HEAT Helmets will be damaged if exposed to temperature exceeding 150° F. Dark vehicles and storage bags exceed this on very hot days. Heat damaged helmet will have random deformed areas where the texture appears bubbly and uneven. If damaged, helmets should be destroyed and replaced immediately. IMPORTANT INFORMATION This headgear is designed to absorb the energy of a blow by partial destruction or damage. Even though such damage may not be visible, the helmet should be destroyed or replaced if it is involved in an injury-related fall. Unfortunately some accidents result in head injury that cannot be prevented by ANY helmet. Depending on the type of impact even very low speeds can result in a serious head injury or fatality. Always ride with extreme caution and be sure to read this manual thoroughly.

1. EYES Helmets sits level on your head and rests low on the forehead, one to two finger widths above the eyebrows. You should be able to see the very edge of their helmet by looking up with your eyes only while keeping your head still. A helmet pushed up to high will not protect the face or head well in a fall or crash. 2. EARS Straps are even and form a “Y” under each earlobe. The straps are snug against the head. 3. MOUTH The buckled chin strap is loose enough so that you can breath. There should be enough room so you can insert the finger between the buckle and chin, but tight enough that if you open your mouth, you can feel the helmet pull down on top.
