Alzheimer’s Society

County Durham Locality Office, South Approach, Bullion Lane, Chester-le-Street, DH2 2DW

The Alzheimer’s Society aims to support people with dementia and their carers from the first stages of concerns about memory, through diagnosis and all subsequent stages. Referrals are accepted from professionals and self-referrals relating to people affected by dementia and their carers. We act as a first point of contact through named dementia advisors and support workers, providing information and support and, where appropriate, signposting to other organisations as needed. We offer practical advice about making services more accessible and provide Dementia Friends awareness sessions and activities such as Dementia Cafes, Singing for the Brain and Games for the Brain. We are also looking for volunteers to support this service. For further information please contact the Alzheimer’s Society by telephone on 0191 389 0400 or e-mail durhamandchester@alzheimers.org.uk
