Galaxy Grand 2 – Beating the Flagship Standards If you are asked to make a review of the Samsung galaxy grand 2, ;it would be total injustice to do this without doing it in relation to the flagship Galaxy Note that was launched in the year 2011. This is the mother of big screen mobile phones as it successfully implemented the design which had seen many a phone manufacturer fail. The Galaxy Grand 2 builds on this success by taking it a notch up. It is a big screen phone that has better processing and other specifications that dwarf the flagship despite the passage of a little time.

Let’s look at the specifications…. Before we get into the specifications, the Galaxy Grand 2 has a striking appearance and appears a bit more squared than the flagship although it spots the same well known Samsung front face. Its edges have a shiny chrome finished ring. It also has a shiny earpiece as well as the Duos and Samsung logos just on top of the screen.  

The Galaxy Grand 2 has a 5.3inch 720x1280-pixel screen which is a 16:9 resolution. It is a marked improvement from the flagship specs. Although the phone supports two SIMs, its name doesn’t feature the Duos brand as the support is not dually active but rather dual standby only.

The processor that powers this phone is the Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (system on a chip) which runs at 1.2GHz. This is faster than other processors that feature in other brands that fall in the same price range such as Broadcom and Mediatek. The RAM is 1.5GB which is ideal for flawless multitasking. The internal memory is 8GB which is modest enough given the fact that you can expand this by way of the microSD facility which supports sizes up to 64GB making a total of 72GB. The phone also features a number of sensors which are pretty much standard with Samsung such as proximity sensor, acceleration sensor, rotation sensor, magnetic sensors and orientation sensors. Android 4.3 runs on the phone which places it ahead of even some of the latest phones that run on earlier versions of Android.

This phone is a great buy and what makes it even better is that it is costing half of what people had to pay for the flagship Galaxy Note and yet it is better in very dimension.
