A Lifetime Of Influence
GARY E. HOYLE
Gary E. Hoyle spent the past 49 years walking through the same doors, down the same halls. “You never know where you’ll end up. I didn’t know I would become an instructor, and I didn’t know I would spend so much time at PIA,” said Hoyle.

Mr. Hoyle began working for PIA as an instructor in October 1973 and worked in many roles over the years including Dean of Students and Director of Campus Operations.
“I’ve always put the students as number 1 in my book,” said Hoyle in his acceptance speech for the FAA Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award, an honor he earned in 2018 in recognition of his 50+ years in the field of aviation maintenance.
Mr. Hoyle also served as President of the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) from 2018 – 2022. Through his work with ATEC, Mr. Hoyle was a major contributor to bringing about the new Part 147 regulations that took effect in September of 2022, which allow AMT schools to modernize their programs to better reflect new aviation technologies.
