Frozen pizzas grow with sustainability in mind

to 95 million pieces, “a consequence,” explains CEO Dario Roncadin, “of the reduced consumption due to the strong inflation growth. We are closing a very challenging 2022 that saw unprecedented increases in raw material and energy prices on all fronts.” Specifically, Roncadin had to face skyrocketing prices for raw materials (mozzarella, tomatoes, flour, cardboard...), gas, and energy, which in 2022 were about €20 million higher than the previous year. “Despite these difficulties,” continues the CEO, “we still tried to limit price increases as much as possible, not to burden consumers, and we are ready to reduce prices if costs go down. Our choice was to work together with the other players in the supply chain, all struggling with rising costs, and focus on research and development to continue producing products in line with consumer needs, without compromising on quality.”

Company and in 2022 presented its first sustainability report. The results achieved and the actions taken to obtain them are published on the company’s website, starting with environmental aspects such as energy produced from the photovoltaic system, energy efficiency, recycled and recyclable packaging, antiwaste initiatives, and an in-house apiary. The report also covers socio-economic aspects such as short supply chains, valorization of Italian suppliers, training projects in collaboration with local organizations, and a large chapter dedicated to people, with initiatives aimed at promoting work welfare, work-life balance, corporate welfare, and skills development. Additionally, Roncadin is committed to solidarity, from supporting Telethon (TV fundraising event) partecipating in the Udine race donating pizzas and providing financial support) to Christmas solidarity initiatives for local non-profit organizations.

The goal is to grow again, also due to the glimpses that can be seen on the inflation front, and to return to our maximum production capacity,” emphasizes Dario Roncadin. “That’s why we continue to invest to strengthen ourselves in the Italian market and expand our presence on the international market, where we operate in 38 countries worldwide.”
