Warning!
While foraging for edible flowers can make for a beautiful hobby, not all beauty is edible. Some flowers are toxic and can cause illness or death. Some edible flowers have stems or roots that are toxic. Some toxic flowers look deceptively similar to edible flowers. Some flowers that are indeed edible may have been sprayed or treated with toxic pesticides. Always make sure you have reliable sources when it comes to identifying edible flowers and when in doubt, don’t eat it.

Outside the house No matter the style, every home’s exterior can adopt farmhouse characteristics which add charm and sophistication. Cedar timbers frame the garage, ground the front steps and add whimsy to the shed’s sliding door and cupola. Copper carries patina throughout the outdoor lights and decor. Picket fences enclose while extensive decking expands. Comfy seating and potted plants invite guests to linger - enjoy! Teena & Rob Hill 517-403-6456 Abstract Builders, LLC

Difference A Touch of Nature
Under the smooth surface glass vanity top, a visual surprise was added - natural stone. A wine storage cabinet takes on a new role as a towel holder and a three-drawer cabinet sits between two sinks while adding storage. The clean lines, simple hardware, modern faucets and heated towel racks make for sophisticated finishing touches to an already elegant space. What can we design for you?

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS. Physical education teacher Mark Page credits his quick recovery from open-heart surgery to “awesome care” at Henry Ford Allegiance Health and to his own determination. “I tell my students they can do whatever they want to if they work at it, and I took my own advice,” Mark said. “I’m eating better, exercising daily and feeling stronger than ever.” Read the rest of Mark’s story at HenryFordAllegiance.com/Strength. This 18-hole public course is a hidden treasure. The exquisite River Raisin peacefully winds through naturally wooded terrain to offer challenging beauty at every turn. The reasonable length boasts tight fairways and rippling greens to test your mastery of the game. The rugged landscape creates natural obstacles in a varying terrain, unlike most courses in the area. This course features 2 sets of trees for different skill levels. Alongside the tranquil, rolling golf course lies our banquet hall, an excellent spot for golf outings and events. The ambiance is warm and friendly, creating the perfect location for your special occasion.

The Legacy Golf Club is an upscale public golf course with the conditions and atmosphere of a country club. Opened in 1997 on 207 semi-rolling acres, this Arthur Hills designed masterpiece is located in southeastern Lower Michigan’s Monroe County. The bent grass fairways and greens are immaculately maintained and five sets of tees provide the golfer with a choice for the degree of challenge to be faced. A complete driving range with grass tee hitting area, large practice putting green, and a chipping green with practice sand bunkers enable golfers to properly prepare for their fun filled round.

assandra Kay Smith of C.K. Antiques in Dundee, spent a lot of her childhood traipsing around flea markets accommodating her mother’s passion for discovering treasures from the past; it wasn’t long before she too was smitten. Even as a young girl, Smith knew that one day she wanted to see her name blazoned above an antique store. Four and a half years ago, that dream became a reality. Smith, who describes herself as a lover of rust and dust, started her journey as a part-time adventure, traveling to local fair and flea markets to buy and sell antiques. She soon realized that she was ready to transition from her career as a high school teacher into realizing her passion of becoming a full-time refurbisher, renovator, and antique store owner. The original C.K. Antiques store was actually located 10 miles further north, but after two and a half years in business, Smith just happened upon the welcoming, vibrant neighborhood of Dundee’s riverside businesses. That’s when her love affair with the area began. Steps away from the well-loved Swan Creek Candle Outlet, C.K. Antiques is a perfect fit for the retail row of Dundee Historic District. The shop utilizes space on both the main floor and the basement level of the building and is filled with artifacts and antiquities from yesteryear. Smith’s first foray into the past was centered around her love for all things Victorian, but she no longer limits herself to such a defined period and instead enjoys many different eras; she has even become a fan of shabby chic. Smith credits her mom for much of her success. “She was my mentor in teaching and continues to mentor me through the antique business,” she noted. The bright, open space at the back of C.K. Antiques is an ideal workroom where Smith offers classes in the intricate construction of paper dahlias. Introduced to this unique art form by a friend, Smith became enthralled and now showcases many of her pieces throughout the store. Back when Smith was still running a booth, she was bestowed the title of ‘Flower Lady’ by her fans, and many who come into her store now, recognize her signature displays from her flea market days. Smith is always working to excite and delight her customers. n

elcome home”. That has always been the slogan of Covenant Church, although one might call out a bit of irony as Covenant Church didn’t actually have their own home. The church had been renting space on Evans Street for the six years of their existence. Yet, Covenant Church understood what most families understand about home — that home isn’t so much about space as it is about the bonds and love that exist between its members. For the members of Covenant, being together was being home. For six years Covenant had welcomed more and more people into their family with a simple invitation: “We don’t expect everyone who walks into Covenant Church to be a Christ-follower or to believe everything we say or do. We just ask that you’re open to considering the possibility that there is a God who loves you and pursues you and who wants to engage with you in a deep and personal way. Wherever you are in your journey, know that at Covenant, you are welcome.” In addition to Sunday worship, Covenant has been committed to loving and serving and being part of the community through programs like MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers); Celebrate Recovery, which helps bring healing; and The Learning Cove, a free tutoring progam. While the congregation was grateful for a place to meet, they

were a growing family feeling the pinch of their current brick and mortar home. They started exploring options like purchasing and renovating their Evans Street location or even renting an auditorium. They just wanted to follow God’s lead. What they didn’t know was that God was leading them towards something extraordinarily unexpected. That unexpected moment happened this past spring when Tecumseh’s First Baptist Church decided to close its doors. Instead of selling their property, the members of First Baptist did something stunning. They simply gifted their building and property to Covenant Church. They gave Covenant Church a permanent home. When the announcement was made, the members of Covenant just sat silent for a moment, mouths open. Such love and generosity is shocking, overwhelming. They know that their journey home as a church family beautifully demonstrates the character of God and His over-abundant generosity. Now, when Covenant Church says welcome home, it becomes a reminder for our own lives in times of uncertainty and unclear paths. We aren’t alone. We don’t need to have all the answers. This new home is a lasting reminder that God does show up with love that is extraordinarily unexpected, monumental, and beautiful. Welcome home, Covenant Church.
