Pets prevent prisoners re-offending The therapeutic power of dog interaction was highlighted by the results of Project Pooch (Positive Opportunities, Obvious Change, With Hounds), showing that 100% of teenage offenders following a dog therapy programme did not return to the correctional system. Demonstrating many behaviour problems such as being out of control, dislike for authority and poor social manners, problem youths were paired with problem dogs so that they could learn acceptable behaviour from each other. These results provide promising outcomes for the ability of dogs to teach troubled youth responsibility, patience, compassion and a positive work ethic. There were times when all one associated one's father with, was a stern looking man with an invisible stick in hand. During those days, children were afraid to talk to their fathers and readily did whatever he ordered, for they knew you can't disobey your father. Still, there was that deep-rooted respect that guided them throughout one's life. Times have changed.

Child Development Pets are friends indeed Pets perform a vital role in child development. A study has explored children’s perceptions of the social support gained from relationshi ps with their pets and with people – looking at who they would turn to first in certain situations. Pets featured prominently in children’s selections, providing comfort, companionshi p and a confidante in a similar manner to humans. Ref: “The role of pets in children’s social networks” – June McNicholas, University of Warwick, UK, 2003 The positive influence of dogs on children in divorce crises A huge 90% of children regard their dog as a unconditional friend and listener. Pet dogs have a stabilising and therapeutic effect – both from a child’s perspective and a mother’s point of view. In the first year after a parental divorce, children with a dog were more socially integrated and less aggressive. Children without a dog demonstrated more extreme behaviour – more stubborn, highly irritable and more prone to vandalism. The reasons are clear –dogs represent a constant positive emotional feeling, an active challenge, give a sense of responsibility and freedom from conflict and disappointment. Pets in schools It is well-known that children are fascinated by animals. This interest can help facilitate learning and have a positive effect on child development. Many school communities have introduced pets in a number of imaginative and practical ways. Pet clubs, pet assemblies or pet days can help nurture a sense of reverence for life, give children a sense of responsibility and provide a fun route into many curriculum areas. Pets benefit cancer patients Pets can play a role for people who are undergoing stresses that make it difficult for them to turn to human relationshi ps. Providing a fragment of normality in an abnormal world, people do not need to put on a brave face when they spend time with their pet. In a study which looked at women between 50-60 years of age recovering form breast cancer, 87% of these subjects reported that their pets filled at least one important role in their social support and 43% said that their pets fulfil over 10 important support functions – being cared for, tactile comfort, being able to express their feelings and still feeling included socially – e.g. when taking the dog for a walk. f you’’ve never been comforted by a big shaggy dog, if you’ve never been welcomed home to slobbering kisses, if you’ve never been nudged awake by a cold nose you might ask the question, “Why do I need a dog? Ç They are good for your health and help you stay calm and stress free Ç They are good for children, they give children confidence and teach them to care and nurture.” Social and Health Benefits of Pet Interaction Scientific evidence is increasingly showing that pets are good for people. UK and international research demonstrates that interaction with pets can: Ç reduce the number of visits made to the GP Ç improve chances of survival after life-threatening illness Ç reduce blood pressure and perceived levels of stress Ç provide companionshi p and enhance social interactions
Ç provide purpose and fulfilment and enrich the quality of life for elderly, lonely and depressed people Ç perform a vital role in the family unit regarding child development Ç modify human behaviour, promoting responses from those who are withdrawn, aggressive or mentally ill Ç prevent re-offending in juvenile prisoners Ç positively affect school attendance rates Health Benefits A pet all day keeps the doctor away A large-scale survey of more than 11,000 Australians, Chinese and Germans proved that pet owners enjoy better health than non-pet owners. Over a five year period, pet owners made 15 – 20% fewer annual visits to the doctor than non pet-owners. Results showed that the healthiest group – those who went to the doctor least – was that of people who continuously owned a pet. The next healthiest group was those who had obtained a pet during the study period, not having had one before. The
least healthy groups were people who had never owned a pet, or no longer did so. Ref: Bruce Headey, Australia, 10th International Conference on Human-Animal Interactions, October 2004 Pets can help reduce the risk of asthma and allergic rhinitis A number of studies have shown that exposure to cats and/or dogs in the first year of life can reduce subsequent risks of allergic sensitisation to multi ple allergens during childhood, including non-pet allergens. Research also shows that exposure to pets is associated with a significantly reduced risk of asthma and allergic rhinitis. In addition, it has been proved that simple precautions involving grooming techniques, hygiene and dietary changes can reduce symptoms by up to 95 per cent in cat-owning asthma sufferers. he distant suburb most people know today as Vasai was originally called Vesale (Sanskrit for dwelling place), under the Muslims it was Baxay, under the Portuguese (1534-1739) it was Bancaim, Baji pura under the Marathas, Bassein under the British and Vasai after Independence. What we commonly know today as (VASAI CHA KILLA)– ‘the Magnificent Bassein Fort’ used __to be the citadel city of the Portuguese (1534 – 1739) in the imperial days. The Portuguese explorer & founder of the Vasai Fort - Nuno da cunha’s building of the great basalt fort, now a magnificent ruin full of roofless churches used to be a shelter for ‘some of the wealthiest Fidalgos (nobles) from the east’. When ‘ Bancaim’ was at the height of its glory, it must have been a breathtaking sight of the Portuguese grandeur. During the Portuguese rule, Vasai fort was a very busy centre for trade & commerce. The Fort walls housed a market place where goods from all over the country were brought for sale once a week. Animals too were brought and sold here, horses came all the way from Arab Countries – particularly from Basra and Baghdad and were taken to Ghodbunder for sale. Besides the vast trade & commerce relationshi p with many countries Vasai also inherited, what the Portuguese valued very close to their hearts: their Christian Faith. And what they left behind here was their Catholic Heritage. Another proof of the Portuguese touch to Vasai are the catholic surnames. The locals have inherited them through their ancestors and can be clearly seen today through their famous surnames throughout Vasai. The Surnames given to them are very meaningful & descri ptive about each clan. Like Rodrigues, Lopes, Nunes, Mendes, Fernandes, Gonçalves, Álvares, Tavares, where the ending -esmeans (son of) these are names inherited from the father's given name that, many centuries ago, began to be used as surnames. Another set of surnames are locative, supposed to describe the geographical origin of a person, like the name of a village, town, city, land, river. Such surnames like Almeida or Andrade, Barros, Bastos, Castelo, Branco, Cintra (from Sintra), Faria, Lima (the name of a river, not meaning lime), Lisboa (Lisbon) etc. Souza (means from Latin saxa, a place with seixos, i.e. peddles, or the name of a Portuguese river), Siqueira or Sequeira (a non-irrigated land), Castro (castle or ruins of ancient buildings), Costa (coast of the sea).

Tree names are very common locative surnames - Carvalho (oak tree), Pereira (pear tree), Moreira (from amoreira, i.e. mulberry tree). These were not old Jewish-Portuguese surnames, although this myth is often repeated.Surnames with religious meanings are also common. It is possible that some of these originated from an ancestor who converted to Catholicism and intended or needed to demonstrate his new faith. Another possible source of religious names were orphans who were abandoned in the churches and raised in Catholic orphanages by priests and nuns, usually baptized with a Jan-Mar 2012

From the point of view of history and architecture, the wealth of these monuments can be discovered and rediscovered at each visit. Your visit to this fort therefore, is a must to find out that something for yourself.
name related to the date near when they were found or baptized. Even another possible source is when previous religious given names (expressing a special devotion by the parents or the god-parents, or the child's birth date) were adopted as family names. Religious surnames include Santana (Saint Ann), Santos (from 'Todos os Santos', i.e. from All Hallows or All Saints day) and Cruz (Cross, the most common surname among the Belmonte Jews). Some other old Christian Portuguese surnames are Costa, Fonseca, Dias, and Pinto. In addition to these names other Portuguese names are also visible within the population: Baretto, Carnero, Lemos, Misquitta, Patrao, Vieira, Zuzarte, amongst others. We the people of Vasai are indeed very privileged and have the opportunity of seeing for ourselves one of the rarestPortuguese forts in India. This is par excellence a unique fort. No other fort can be compared to this one, for it teaches you the Catholic Heritage enshrined in stone. The Fort is also witness to all the tempest of the human spirit. These stone ruins show
us how empires rise and fall. Be it kingdoms or human beings, in both cases, history repeats itself; a real sermon in stones. The Fort is the pride of Vasai and a magnet for visitors. The fort ruins, wear a different look in every season. During monsoon, once the trees have had a seasonal shower, the fort has a glamour of its own. As soon as the monsoons are over, the creepers and trees start flowering – the flora & fauna at this season enchant the visitor. In Summer, the colours of the variety of mangoes that hang from the trees and the clusters of dates glittering on innumerable date palms, captivate one’s attention. All this adds to the beauty and fascination of the fort. Today, though officially a Archeologically Protected Monument since 1917, the fort is in a appalling condition, the Archeological survery of india has managed to destroy its inviolate character in one swoop. Many visitors to the fort feel the former structure looked better than the freshly smoothened walls of the forts. Restoration experts say
the physical damage wreaked upon the monument by the use of taboo materials like concrete and cement cannot be undone. In effect, the souls of the 477 year old fort are buried for good. Some local activists say that these ruins have the charm of historicity and they should be carefully consolidated with lime ‘surkhi’ and not modern building materials like cement. Thanks to the ASI, the fort has now got a facelift. They are in process of restoring 6 other shrines inside the fort, most of the work however is done. Jungle Chicken IngredientsFor Marinade: 1 whole chicken (big around 2kgs) Tandoori masala (as required for 2kgs) Ginger Garlic paste (around 100gms) Curd (200 gms) Cumin powder [jeera] (1 tsp) Garam masala (1 tsp) Butter (as per reqd for grilling) Chicken soup cubes ( 1 no) Maggi Sauce hot and sweet (2 tbsp)
For Stuffing: Onion (1 nos) tomato (1 nos) Mushroom (8nos) Green peas (handfull boiled) Chicken sausages/kheema/liver and geyser Croutons Bottle masala Chillies (1nos)
Method: Take a fork and poke the chicken so that when marinade is applied it enters the flesh.I suggest that you do not remove the skin of the chicken and ask the butcher to make a small hole while cleaning instead of the usual one, so that it helps u stitch the chicken while grilling it. Once the chicken is pierced keep it aside. In another small bowl mix tandoori masala (wet),ginger garlic paste, curd, cumin
powder, garam masala, and crush the chicken soup cube and mix it, also add maggi sauce to it. Do not add more orelse the marinade will become sweet. Apply this mixture to the chicken thoroughly and allow it to marinade for atleast 2 hours.Do not keep it in the fridge. Get a frying pan and fill it generously with oil. Cut slice bread into square slices by cutting the borders and deep fry them. Once that it done take another frying pan,use some oil from the fried croutons about a tbsp, fry the fine diced onion and allow it to fry. Once its golden brown add chillies, finely diced ginger and garlic, tomato, mushroom, boiled green peas chicken sausages/anything that you like.Hint it with a bit of bottle masala. Add the croutons into the mixture. Once the stuffing is done fill it into the chicken that was left
for marinading. Stitch it, you'd probably let the women do this!! :) Cook it on low fire , fire burnt with wood.. Ones that are lazy, give it in a bakery for roasting. Apply butter while grilling.
Xtras: Was inspired by my uncle..added a personal touch to it though. Its a lovely reci pe when ur partying..believe me its li psmacking.. we call it the jungle chicken because we can make it anywhere in the open Just collect some sticks and twist and turn it untill it cooks to perfection. Serves 6 while drinking, serves 4 normally.. This Goes awesomely great with the Cooler that i would suggest..

aragliding is a new form of aviation sport, which offers perhaps the easiest and most exciting way for almost anyone to realize the age-old dream of personal flight. One of the greatest appeals of paragliding is the elegant simplicity of the sport; right from the equi pment required to the technique involved. The basic skills are easy to learn. The equi pment is light in weight and relatively inexpensive compared to any other type of flying material. The entire system weights around 12 to 15 kg, fits in a bag, which can be carried in a backpack. In the smooth, calm air of early morning or evening, a paraglider pilot can, with a few easy steps, launch himself from any convenient hill side or mountain top and glide smoothly and silently to a gentle landing hundreds or even thousands of feet below. In the more active air of midday, a paraglider pilot with more advanced skills and experience can launch into soaring conditions, where rising parcels of sun heated air can carry a paraglider and pilot aloft, sometime thousands of feet above the point of launch, and allow for sustained flight of up to several hours. At the right flying site in the right conditions, a pilot with the right skill and experience can even fly cross country, hopping from one thermal updraft to the next, and landing in some previously unknown location miles downwind of his original takeoff spot. Paragliding comes as a gift, for those of us who have dreamed throughout our lifetimes of imitating the simple, unencumbered flights of the birds. 13

WINCHING It is one of the most exiting courses, surely helps one to build a firm learning foundation in Paragliding. The students are carefully guided throughout the training session physically and mentally. To fly with the help of a winch the paraglider pilot is attached to a rope, wound to the winch drum at the other end on a plain ground. As the winch operator winds the rope in the drum, the pilot gets pulled with the paraglider, which inflates and starts rising with forward motion and takes off. After gaining the desired height, the winch operator cuts power. The paraglider pilot immediately releases the rope and gradually glides down to the landing area. This is a preferred method of training as compared to directly launching from a hill. It is advantageous because the student is progressively launched higher and higher, starting from lesser heights like 50 feet. The landing area is a plain ground, which is much safer, compared to the rough terrain of a foothill. The strain of climbing the hill a number of times is also eliminated. Since the physical effort is less, one could launch a number of times without getting exhausted. Three qualified and experienced paragliding instructors on the field control the entire operation. Top 10 things Dads of Teens NEED to know!! here were times when all one associated one's father with, was a stern looking man with an invisible stick in hand. During those days, children were afraid to talk to their fathers and readily did whatever he ordered, for they knew only one thing - you can't disobey your father. Still, there was that deep-rooted respect that guided them throughout one's life. Times have changed. Today, dads are more indulgent. They don't expect their children to say, "Yes, father!" all the time. Today, they care for their children more than ever. They go out with them, play with them, pamper them and even change their diapers and cook their lunch whenever they get time. Yet, they haven't lost their position as the epitome of strength and respect in the household. Those times have changed but the love that one have for his/ her father in their heart haven't changed. Love for the father and a bit of fear and a feeling of need of that special person to guide our way through to our future. Here are some main things a dad needs to know to be a successful father of teenagers. Jan-Mar 2012
Understand their important moments A recent study suggested that teens whose parents don't pay attention to the rites of passage in a teenager's life have behavior and relationshi p problems at a greater than expected rate. Learn about your teen's important moments and how to be there at the crossroads.
Teach them to manage money Also common among teenagers is a changing attitude about money. Many find jobs in their teen years, others are largely supported by their parents. But helping them learn to manage their money, including saving for college and other future needs, is something dads need to know.
Help your teens prepare for college Another intimidating time in the life of a father of teens is preparing financially for their college experience. Find out ways to pay for college, and some strategies for beginning to save now for those expensive years.
Y ou can be a star one-day or you can be a monster the next day! that’s the power of media. It has the ability to make you see the unreal. It is as harsh to act like a mirror at times! says Neeru Singh.
Become your teen's friend while still being a dad Granted, teens can have lots of friends, but they only have one dad and you can enhance your friendshi p with your teen by following some simple steps.
ut what is media? Is it the Television soap that your mother is hooked on to? Or is it your father’s good old newspaper? Maybe it’s the Internet where your brother spends the entire day. Wait a minute; it’s not just that. What about the radio which your sister refuses to turn off at night? You have been seeing it everywhere. Its presence is palpable. It is considered the fourth pillar, on which the entire country stands after Parliament, Executive and Judiciary.
But what does media do? Mass communication. The country of billion receives the information at the same time through different medium like newspapers, radio, television or internet with the help of media; and that is mass communication.Media not only distributes or passes the information but also serves the social responsibility of voicing the opinion of masses. We are a young country. We need a young voice. A voice that represents new India. We have knowledge about everything. We have our own mind and we have a distinct voice.
We want to learn everything. Gone are the days when one struck to a subject and was given a choice between Science, Commerce and Humanities. Journalism and Mass communication is the new direction. If you think you are unconventional and you look beyond CH3COONa or Debit/credit. And if you find a newspaper headline more interesting than the net profit at the end of the balance sheet, then Journalism and Mass communication is what you should opt for. Not only you need an unconventional mind but also a desire to put your thoughts 49
1 kings 6-10 Generations later, King Solomon built the first Temple according to the plans given by God. The technology that was to be used for building the Temple was provided by God Himself. God uses the technologies that develop with every passing generation, to preserve His Word and transmit this Word throughout the world. The Bible has come a long way from the days in which it was first written on papyrus. The Bible is now widely available in thousands of languages in print and, increasingly, in electronic form as well. It is amazing to note how the Word of God makes frequent metaphoric use of technology to describe something more spiritual: Winnowing out the wicked (Proverbs 20:23, Luke 3:17) Job says his days go past as fast as a weaver's shuttle (Job 7:6) God is a shield around us (Psalm 3:3) God's word is a lamp (Psalm 119:105) and sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12) God as refiner (Isaiah 1:25, Isaiah 48:10, Malachi 3:2, Zechariah 13:9) The tongue is like a bow, shooting lies (Jeremiah 9:3, Jeremiah 9:8) Paul instructs us to put on the armour of God (Ephesians 6:13ff) Jesus also makes powerful metaphoric use of technology to draw his audience from something that they know well towards some new spiritual concept.
The kingdom of God is like a fishing net (Matthew 13:47) Don't hide a lamp under a bowl (Mark 4:21, Luke 8:16, Luke 11:33) Vineyards and wine-presses (e.g. Mark 12:1) We have now come to that fascinating era where modern technology has unlocked the mysteries of the Bible's sealed end-time prophecies. Dan. 12:4. "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased". Earlier generations were unable to correctly interpret any of these prophecies. However, we now see that our generation is widely using vehicles on land, sea and air to move rapidly "to and fro", marking the fulfillment of the first sign to look for in determining "the time-of-the-end." The second sign-"and knowledge shall be increased" is fulfilled in the rapid increase in knowledge in every field. However, there is always the threat of technology taking the place of God, thereby increasing the possibilities for evil. It is therefore important that our every act of creativity brings honor to the greatness of God who created us from dust. Technology must never be allowed to distract us from our dependence on God. Therefore in all our works, we must ensure that God is glorified. In this age of super computers, let us not forget that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and all things are subject to Him, including technology.
Help them have good friends Success as a teenager is related in large measure to the quality of the friends they choose. Find out ways to encourage your teens to run with the right crowd, and what to do if they are hanging with the wrong friends.
Manage their cell phone use Many dads of teens have been burned with big cell phone bills or have otherwise had problems with cellular phones. Check out ideas from other dads on helping your teen manage and appropriately use cell phones, text messaging and more.
Teach him or her to drive Part of this infamous transition to adulthood is learning how to drive and the importance of personal responsibility on the road. Find out what other dads have done to get through this important rite of passage into responsible adulthood.
K now how important their friends are to them Part of the teenage experience is a greater level of independence,—this is as it should be as they transition into adulthood. Part of that transition is that friends take a preeminent role in their lives—often becoming more important than parents and family. Find out what friends mean to teenagers and how to understand and deal with this change in your family's life. Jan-Mar 2012

God Does Exist In The Technology World - Anne Serrao
Chef Diljoy Rebello
en. 2:15. ' The Lord took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to till it and keep it'. Does God exist in this technology driven world? Surely He does. He has blessed us with the ability to think and reason. When God commanded Adam to till the land and keep it, He also provided him with the know-how of tilling the ground. As man began developing his farming skills, new techniques evolved, which helped him to adapt to natural environments. Technology is constantly challenging traditional norms and influencing the values of a society. In fact, too often, new technology raises new ethical questions. The benefits of technology are all around us, from waking in the morning, to making a phone call, driving your car, or logging on to your computer. Our God is in the business of creating. He is innovative and He does new things every day. He simply speaks things into existence! All of creation glorifies His engineering skills, artistry and craftsmanshi p. Job 26: 7-10 says He stretches out His heavens
over empty space. He hangs the earth on nothing whatsoever. He holds the water in His thick clouds and the clouds don't even split under its weight. He covers His throne by spreading His cloud over it. He marks the horizon on the surface of the water at the boundary where light meets dark! Now the Word of God says that we are created in the image and likeness of God (Gen 1:27–28). A significant aspect of being made in God's image is that we share His innovative nature. God did not just zap the universe into completion with a snap of His fingers. Just as a craftsman labours at his work, God too laboured at creating the universe. He reflected on each new wonder day by day and concluded that it was good. When Jesus came to earth as 'man', He took on the occupation of a craftsman. Jesus is called a 'tekton', a Greek word that meant not merely a carpenter, but a designer, construction engineer, or architect. The word tekton has the same root as our word 'technology'. Jesus' skill as a craftsman reflected the creativity of his Heavenly
Father. This gift of craftsmanshi p or technology has also been gifted to us by God Himself. We have progressed from the printing press to the internet. Mankind has reached the moon and peeped into the cosmos. We have even succeeded in deci phering the marvelous codes of the human genome. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, we see the evolution of technology through God's instructions to the people. Here are some examples: Gen. 6: 14 onwards God gave Noah detailed specifications on how to build the ark. Hence it is said that the ark made by the amateur shi p builder Noah sailed smoothly over the floods whereas the titanic which was built by the professionals, sank on its very first voyage. Ex. 25:10 onwards When God brought the Israelite people out of Egypt to Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the commandment to build a tabernacle. God Himself gave Moses instructions about the pattern of the tabernacle and all the instruments that were to be used within 47

chocolate There are numerous articles online, claiming that chocolate helps to improve our mood. As much as I would like this to be true, I have to be honest with you – the results of a vast amount of research suggest that the mood improvement effects caused by eating chocolate are very short-lived (not more than 3 minutes). And when it is consumed to alleviate stress, depression or boredom, the temporary relief is soon followed by a mood drop. Oh well… For a sweet-tooth like me, chocolate will still remain a virtual mood booster, as just thinking about something chocolaty lightens up my spirits. broccoli If you find yourself susceptible to bad moods and crankiness, then it may be because you are not eating enough foods that contain folic acid. In addition to battling against cancer and heart disease, folic acid is also very helpful for lowering stress levels and preventing irritability. Still unconvinced? What if I told you told that folic acid deficiency is the most common vitamin deficiency in the world? It kind of makes you wonder about how many arguments could have been avoided if we had just eaten more broccoli? Other foods rich in folic acid include asparagus, avocado, chickpeas and oranges. sweet potatoes Scientists believe that high-fiber, carbohydrate-rich foods have the ability to slow down the absorption of sugar in your blood and therefore, keep energy levels stable throughout the day and lessen mood swings. Baked sweet potatoes are a great example of comfort food that is both delicious and healthy.

whole grains The reason why so many of us crave potato chi ps or cup cakes whenever we feel stressed out is because they contain carbs that help us to absorb Tryptophan (the amino acid that triggers the manufacture of serotonin). The problem is that not all carbohydrates are the same. Simple carbs contained in cakes, pies, crackers and other snack-junk food provoke big spikes in insulin production, quickly turning the feel-good vibes into even more grumpiness and irritation. If you want to keep your optimism and energy over a long period of time while coping with stress better, you need to incorporate more complex carbs in your diet like whole-wheat grains and beans. So no chocolate chi p cookies and French fries! spinach As children we used to watch “Popeye the Sailor Man” eating spinach and recharging his superhuman strength. Nowadays there is plenty of scientific basis to consider spinach a power food. Filled with nutrients and minerals like iron, potassium and magnesium it helps to regain a positive outlook on life, fight the feeling of fatigue and decrease levels of stress and anxiety. Not bad for a little vegetable, don’t you think? Incorporating these ten mood boosters into your diet will improve not only your outlook, but also your energy and your figure. If you want to learn more about food that gives you energy, create your own personal feel-good 12 week meal plan and lose unwanted extra pounds make sure to check this Eating for Energy book written by Yuri Elkaim. In the meantime eat up and lighten up! Source: www.arinanikitina.com

We view food as a source of energy, and sometimes what we eat tastes particularly delicious & is a source of guilty pleasure. But we rarely see a connection between the food we eat and the mood we are in throughout the day. et if you think about it whenever we feel bored, sad, heartbroken or stressed out we automatically head to the kitchen in search of a tub of ice-cream or a bag of potato chi ps, instead of turning for comfort to foods that can actually help to boost our mood, improve our motivation and noticeably increase our energy (and I am not talking about coffee or ‘Red Bull’ here). If lately you have been a little cranky, spacey and quick to snap at friends, co-workers and your family members, a better eating plan may be just the thing you need to restore balance in your personal and professional life. blueberries For those of us, who are accustomed to associating healthy foods with spinach and kale and unhealthy ones with yummy ice-cream and cup cakes, blueberries come as a pleasant surprise. After all it is not every day that you find something that is delicious, low-calorie and beneficial at the same time! Besides lifting your mood, blueberries contain antioxidants and vitamins that are known to preserve vision, promote brain health and even prevent some types of cancer. Jan-Mar 2012
BANANAS with so many exotic fruits on the market, good ol’d bananas are often overlooked and undervalued. However, by all definitions a banana is one of the super fruits that can help you cope with stress, feel happier and noticeably improve your mood. Bananas and the potassium they contain not only keep blood pressure in check, but also help to improve memory and brain power. So instead of grabbing a chocolate chi p cookie to relax, savor the deliciousness of golden bananas. black and green tea Who would guess that the old English tradition of having five oʼclock tea is so beneficial? A substance contained in black and green tea, called Theanine has a tranquilizing effect on the brain helping us to reduce mental and physical stress, improve cognition skills and lift our spirits (by triggering production of feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine). Therefore, the next time you need an energy and positivity boost, instead of ordering a double shot of espresso, go for a cup of fragrant green tea concoction!

WHATS THE POINT? Everything starts as nothing. It’s easy to look at the world’s largest companies and think, “I could never start something like that.” And you’ would be right. Most of these companies took decades to get where they are today. They didn’t start by trying to create Amazon Apple, and Google. They started by creating an online bookstore, a computer, and a search algorithm. Whether it’s a garage, a basement, or a dorm room, every business has humble beginnings. It’s not about where you start. It’s where you end up. Post written by Retireat21 writer, Nick Tart.,
walnuts There is no better way to feed your inner Einstein than popping a few Walnuts in your mouth. Besides their wrinkled, brain-like appearance (which makes them fit the descri ption of “brain food” perfectly) they are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, known for their mood-lifting qualities. Other foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids include flax seeds, salmon, tuna and leafy green veggies. milk Have you ever heard the word tryptophan? This is an amino acid responsible for making us feel sleepy after a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Now we can not always cook turkey or a chicken breast to relax after a long hard day at work, but we can always grab a glass of warm milk, add some spices like nutmeg and cloves to it and feel peace and tranquility wash through our body. 23

Other foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids include flax seeds, salmon, tuna and leafy green veggies. milk Have you ever heard the word tryptophan? This is an amino acid responsible for making us feel sleepy after a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. chocolate There are numerous articles online, claiming that chocolate helps to improve our mood. Other foods rich in folic acid include asparagus, avocado, chickpeas and oranges. sweet potatoes Scientists believe that high-fiber, carbohydrate-rich foods have the ability to slow down the absorption of sugar in your blood and therefore, keep energy levels stable throughout the day and lessen mood swings. whole grains The reason why so many of us crave potato chi ps or cup cakes whenever we feel stressed out is because they contain carbs that help us to absorb Tryptophan (the amino acid that triggers the manufacture of serotonin).
God Himself gave Moses instructions about the pattern of the tabernacle and all the instruments that were to be used within 47
1 kings 6-10 Generations later, King Solomon built the first Temple according to the plans given by God.
In this age of super computers, let us not forget that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and all things are subject to Him, including technology.

ut what is media?

Three qualified and experienced paragliding instructors on the field control the entire operation. aragliding is a new form of aviation sport, which offers perhaps the easiest and most exciting way for almost anyone to realize the age-old dream of personal flight. 13
G S Narasimhan, Superintending Architect ASI (Mumbai) says Monuments at Vasai are important because they are the only Portuguese- related historical structures surviving in the Mumbai region.” The Restoration of the Jesuit Church costs around 45 lakh rupees to the ASI. It is the only church where the ASI allows weekly mass and the annual feast of St. Gonsalo Garcia to be held. St. Gonsalo Garcia, the first Catholic saint of Indian Origin, lived in the fort and studied there. 11

he distant suburb most people know today as Vasai was originally called Vesale (Sanskrit for dwelling place), under the Muslims it was Baxay, under the Portuguese (1534-1739) it was Bancaim, Baji pura under the Marathas, Bassein under the British and Vasai after Independence. Souza (means from Latin saxa, a place with seixos, i.e. peddles, or the name of a Portuguese river), Siqueira or Sequeira (a non-irrigated land), Castro (castle or ruins of ancient buildings), Costa (coast of the sea).

f you’’ve never been comforted by a big shaggy dog, if you’ve never been welcomed home to slobbering kisses, if you’ve never been nudged awake by a cold nose you might ask the question, “Why do I need a dog?
Recovery/ Preventing from illness Research from the University of New York found that men who own cats or dogs had lower resting heart rates and blood pressure than non-pet owning males – indicating that pet ownershi p can bring improvements to all aspects of the owner’s life. Dogs teach problem teens Results captured from three diverse Californian juvenile institutions have proven ‘at-risk’ teens gain more psycho-social skills (anger management, emotional self-control, parenting skills etc) through guided human-animal interaction than from years in a classroom:- Self-esteem in 13 – 16 year olds in a juvenile detention centre improved on average by 60% Ç An alternative school for 15 – 17 year olds showed a 50% decrease in absenteeism Ç School attendance improved by 73.4% at a middle school (12 – 15 year olds), a 51.2% fall in the suspension rate was recorded, with the number of disci plinary calls reduced by 26.5% Ç Improved anger management, emotional self-control and parenting skills.
