Dr. Amit-Aharon, PhD, is at the Department of Nursing, School of Health Professions, and is a registered nurse and holds a Master’s degree in health administration from Tel Aviv University and a Ph.D. in public health from Haifa University. Dr. Amit-Aharon serves as the head of the PISGAH program for premilitary nursing students. She was one of the first researchers in Israel to examine parental noncompliance to childhood vaccines during her service as a head nurse in the Department of Public Health at the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality. Her doctoral dissertation dealt with parental compliance of vaccinations and their feelings of control over health factors.
Jews, Arabs, and asylum seekers in Tel Aviv. Understanding the associations between culture and health may lead to implementation of programs tailored to individual needs in different communities and hence, reduce health inequity.
