Gaming for rehabilitation

Prof. Rand’s research aims to achieve a better understanding of the factors hindering and facilitating the recovery of individuals post stroke and specifically the use of their affected upper extremity. Her studies are clinical, aiming to research the factors related to the limited recovery of the affected upper extremity

She has developed interventions (utilizing gaming technologies) aimed to improve the affected upper extremity as well as assessment and treatment of the cognitive deficits of these individuals . Recently, Rand has expanded her research to the growing population of (healthy) older adults . She investigates physical and social frailty as well as cognitive decline, aiming to determine ways to promote successful aging
