The bullock company prove the value of on-car physical protection by market statistical research and their feedback from users.

Bullock company needs a new design 2

The company wants to improve their product for the up coming challenges of the market, so they invite politecnico as partner to develop a new series.

Family series need to keep in the same feeling 3

The bullock company alreay has their symbolic fiamliy elements on their products. For further development, those elements should be inherited.

Features of the existing series

Features on the improving design

The existing product is born with rounded edges and covered with soft-touch material to indicate SAFE. It has warning color and red ball Rod[4].

Above taking the family feature from the last generation The new design is much more lighter thanks to the new machanism and the size is smaller.

Comparision on Restriction To stop the wheel from moving is the explaination of physical pretection. The new design is using the same restriction and make sure the safety level are the same.

2 Lock system is a buy component that can not be changed 3 On the area touching the wheel, sofe-touch material is needed.

Functioning scenario The functioning position is shown as rendering. The lighter new design can also benifit the storage issue after functioning.

Thanks to the new mechanism structure(ratchet), this product will self restrict only by opening outward. And it promises the security and adaptabiliy on different size of wheels

YAPE

In 2019 the postman robot Yape, an autonomous vehicle for deliveries, developed by the Italian company e-Novia, will start new tests on roads abroad. The electric pony express will be used for experiments in the stores of a supermarket chain, with a postal company and with a company that deals with parcel delivery in the last mile.

Concept sketch on product During the concept development stage, we decided not only how the product looks like but also how the structure is, how would we assembly them and user interaction.

Double book cases (not fulfilled) Two book cases designed to coveri indoor use and ourdoor use, the ourdoor one is out of safety requirement. However the company did not need it.

Corner Camera Module Ideal struction (not fulfilled) In our concept, there would be three shells independent for the good of maintenance. But considering the balance of prices and possibilities of manufacturing, we did not follow this plan.

In the concept, we placed the camera from the front to the cornoer and reduce the blind area and maximum blind radius.

Custiomized painting for universities For different universities or library, they could customize the painting acoording to their identity.

Interaction with smart phone

Detection for the weather

With internet, librarians can balance the time and needs. Users will know when and where to gain what they want and they can share books as a community.

Books can't expose to rain and moisture, sensors are placed on the roof of building and send back signals to robot and tell it where to stay.

Water diversion design The whole product is designed to have full capability of water diversion. On the parting line, there is always a gasket. Water guiding path on top of the box and perfect founded edge are also designed for this propuse. C

Identify your clearance To gain the clearance by scanning your ID card or face recognition.

Camera arrangement The blind area drops about 8% and the maximum blind radius reduces about 15% in the new arrangment.

Basket subassembly The lid cover is produced by thermal forming, at the mean while, The Basket body is producted by rotomolding

Body shell subassembly The whole body shell is produced in one piece by rotomolding to control the producing cost. Steps as follow:

Frame subassembly Frame is consisted by square section rods welded. To not fail in high stress, reinforcement is applied at dangerous point.
