Cavity Fire Barrier on a Roll - To suit up to 50mm cavities
Many external cavities such as those formed by rainscreens, cladding or external facade systems are designed with an open cavity to provide back ventilation. The
cavity acts like an open chimney to allow for ventilation, moisture dissipation and in some cases, to create a back pressure to repel rain ingress. However, in a fire situation this chimney effect creates an open path for the hidden spread of fire both vertically and horizontally behind the external façade or cladding system. Building Regulations require that Cavity Fire Barriers be installed within the cavity to prevent fire spread. TENMAT ’s range of Ventilated Fire Barriers maintain the ventilated cavity, but, in the event of fire, the intumescent Ventilated Fire Barriers quickly expand to seal off the cavity to prevent fire spread.

Penetrations, such as openings for pipes, vents, and air valves must be fire stopped in order to reinstate the fire rating of the wall, ceiling or floor in which it is contained, and ensure that fire and smoke are unable to spread through the penetration. Also, in some cases there is a requirement to provide resistance to the passage of sound, e.g. floors or walls within or between dwellings (Approved Document E). TENMAT provides a range of fully tested Passive Fire Protection/firestopping products for mechanical service penetrations, offering a quick and simple way to maintain the fire and acoustic rating where penetrations are involved.

TENMAT’s range of Intumescent Materials are all developed and manufactured at our headquarters in Trafford Park, Manchester, UK. To meet tomorrow’s needs for innovative solutions, TENMAT operates a state-of-the-art in-house R&D laboratory and continuously develops highest quality products. Our manufacturing plant allows us to manufacture materials in sheet form, from thicknesses of 0.5 mm to 60 mm, with dimensions of up to 1050 mm x 2100 mm. We can also vacuum form materials into 3D shapes.
At TENMAT we carry out accelerated age testing using our state of the art laboratory facilities to provide information that demonstrates the high level of reliability required for such products. have been tested at intervals under accelerated ageing conditions for a period of months to simulate in excess of 30 years under ambient conditions. TENMAT Passive Fire Protection materials demonstrate stable behaviour over a simulated min. 30 year period with little degradation in properties and performance.
