Whether you’re strolling downtown Franklin, dining in Cool Springs, shopping at The Factory or looking for antiques in Leiper’s Fork, you’ll fi nd that Williamson County supports diverse lifestyles and offers a wealth of housing options.

From Franklin’s Westhaven community, which features a walkable design with retail establishments located in the neighborhood, to the rural setting of Winterset Woods in Nolensville, you’ll fi nd plenty of new homes to choose from. And whether you choose a larger city like Franklin (the county seat) or one of the smaller communities like Arrington or Fairview, you’ll fi nd housing and amenities in a variety of styles and price ranges.

It’s hard to decide whether Franklin is a big city with a small-town feel or a small town with big-city advantages. CoolSprings Galleria and its surrounding business district serve a variety of consumer needs — from dining to furniture, housewares to clothing and more. The Crossings in nearby Spring Hill features tenants like Target, Kirkland’s, and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

If you prefer the rural life, head to the pastoral paradise of Thompson’s Station, located just minutes from downtown Franklin and not that far from downtown Nashville. In nearby Nolensville, you can stop in at the new Nolensville Farmers Market for fresh produce, fl owers, homemade foods and more.

Williamson County is home to businesses large and small, from home-owned enterprises like Yarrow Acres and McCreary’s Irish Pub to national headquarters for companies like Nissan, Tractor Supply and Mars Petcare. Small wonder, then, that Bloomberg ranked the Nashville area (including Franklin and Murfreesboro) as number eight on its list of Top 10 American Boomtowns (based on population growth and growth in gross domestic product). According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, last year Williamson was the #1 county on the list of Fastest Growing Job Markets in the U.S., and Backgroundcheck.org ranked the cities of Brentwood (#1) Franklin (#3) and Spring Hill (#5) among the Safest Cities in Tennessee. With small-town charm, major employers and a healthy economic climate, if you’re looking for good country living in a growing and thriving community, Williamson County could be just the place.

SMART Moves When Hiring Movers

NAPS

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that over 17 million Americans move to a new home every year. If you’re ever among them, knowing a few facts and figures can help you have a smoother move.

Moving Tips

To help, the experts at the American Moving and Storage Association, the national trade association for professional movers, created a checklist.

1Do comparison shopping. Even if you’re considering doing the move yourself, you should get at least three written, in-home estimates so you can make an informed choice. The estimates should be free, so you have nothing to lose by trying to find out whether a professional move is best for you.

Some movers even offer estimates based on videos and photos you submit online. Make sure you show the mover everything that needs to be moved, from the attic to the basement, and any sheds, garages or storage areas. The mover needs a complete picture of everything to be moved to give you the most accurate estimate.

Reputable interstate movers will always give you estimates in writing and they must—by law—provide you with federal publications that explain the moving process and your rights and responsibilities. Be careful of any estimates offered over the phone or online, and if the mover asks for a large down payment or full payment in advance.

2Read your paperwork carefully. Remember, once you’ve signed a contract, you’ve agreed to what it says about your move.

3Understand what the mover’s level of liability is, in case of loss or damage.

4Bear in mind that communication is key. Make sure the mover has your cell phone number or other way to reach you during the move and that you have the driver’s full name and the truck number. 5If you don’t understand something, ask questions. Reputable movers will be happy to answer them. If the moving company can’t or won’t answer your questions, you might want to look for another mover.

6You can find nearly 2,800 certified ProMovers, who meet high standards of safety and professionalism, at www.Moving.org. A ProMover certification takes the worry and hassle out of your move and helps you locate reputable, qualified movers—from small, family-run businesses to national van lines—who have been trained and tested.

For further facts and tips and to find nearby certified movers, go to www.Moving.org. Knowing what to ask and expect of your moving company can help make moving a lot easier.
