TENNESSEE TECH SOFTBALL 2017

BONNIE BYNUM GRAHAM Head Coach Fifth season

B

onnie Bynum Graham enters her fifth season as head coach of the Tennessee Tech softball team, leading the Golden Eagles to a 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title (seventh title in program history), the program’s 21st all-time OVC Tournament appearance and third straight under Graham. Tech posted a 15-11 conference record in Graham’s third season at the helm, going 3328 overall on the season. The Golden Eagles had a stellar 2015 season, highlighted by an OVC Tournament title and making the team’s first NCAA appearance since 2007. Tech rolled off an impressive 8-2 victory over Chattanooga (35-14) for Tech’s first win in the NCAA Tournament since a 3-1 nod over California back in 2007. The win that featured TTU runs in five of the seven innings kept the season alive, before the magical run finally concluded with a 9-3 loss to South Alabama (40-12) to tie a ribbon on the 2015 season. The Golden Eagles went undefeated in the conference tournament, becoming the first Tech squad to run the table in the OVC tourney since 2006. The club also enjoyed its best conference record, and most wins in a season since the 2007 campaign. Graham was named Tennessee Tech’s softball team’s head coach on January 17, 2013, replacing Tory Acheson who resigned following 14 seasons at the Golden Eagle helm. The most successful pitcher in Ohio Valley Conference history, the Fayetteville, Ga. native returned in May, 2012 to her alma mater as assistant coach after five seasons on the Western Kentucky University softball coaching staff. She worked the previous five seasons with the pitching staff at WKU, culminating in all-region and all-Sun Belt Conference honors for the team’s ace. Graham currently holds every OVC pitching record except one (which is held by another former Tech pitcher), and was twice named as Tech’s Outstanding Female Athlete. A two-time OVC Pitcher of the Year in 2006 and 2007, she was a three-time first-team all-OVC selection. She also won three consecutive OVC Tournament MVP honors. As a junior, she was named the Outstanding Female Athlete for the entire OVC. In the circle for Tech, she was a four-year letterwinner and starter under Acheson. She posted a school and OVC-record 103 career victories including 34 wins as a senior in 2007. All told, she appeared in 193 games, throwing 1,021 strikeouts and six no-hitters. She finished 2007 ranked seventh nationally in victories. During her senior year, she posted a 1.50 earned run average, throwing 33 complete games and 11 shutouts while pitching over 300 innings. She is a native of Fayetteville, Ga., and graduated from Tech in 2007 with a degree in business management.

TIFFANY BAKER Assistant Coach Fourth season

T

iffany Baker enters her fourth season as assistant coach of the Golden Eagles. The former Chattanooga standout and East Tennessee State graduate assistant coach is coming off a successful first two seasons in the Tech purple and gold that saw her work primarily with the offense. During the hot stretch to close out the 2014 season in which the Golden Eagles rolled off a 13-3 record in the club’s final 16 games, TTU’s offense generated nearly nine runs per game in those 13 victories. In the 2015 season, the Golden Eagles’ offense generated runs in five of the seven innings in their NCAA appearance over Chattanooga to keep the season rolling before falling to South Alabama. A product of East Ridge (Tenn.) High School, Baker, 27, built quite an impressive resume during her four-year playing career at Chattanooga. At ETSU, the former slugger worked with the hitters and infielders, and tackled daily operations for the Buccaneers. As a Lady Moc, she hit 50 career home runs, shattering both the Chattanooga and SoCon all-time marks, while also being a three-time NFCA All-South Region and firstteam All-SoCon selection. Along with her success on the field, Baker posted a 3.73 grade point average in the classroom en route to being named to the 2011 Capital One/COSIDA Academic

All-District IV first team. She was also a nominee for the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year award. The three-time SoCon All-Academic member played an integral role in helping Chattanooga reach its first-ever regional final appearance in 2011. She hit .455 (5-for-11) with a double, three home runs, three runs scored, and six RBI in four games played at the Tuscaloosa Regional. Baker, who hit 18 of her 50 round-trippers in 2011, was tied for 13th among NCAA Division I players and she also ranked 13th in RBI per game (1.16). To go with her 50 career homers, she hit .325 (200-616) with 39 doubles and 163 RBI in 218 games (217 starts) for the Lady Mocs. In addition, she led Chattanooga to four SoCon regular season titles and three NCAA Regional appearances. She was a two-sport standout in softball and volleyball at East Ridge High School, where she was named the 2006 Gatorade Player of the Year and graduated fourth in her class. A four-time all-district pick, she was named all-state for three seasons. Baker graduated magna cum laude from Chattanooga with a degree in Health and Human Performance, Pedagogy. She obtained her master’s in sports management from ETSU.

BAILEY DILLENDER Assistant Coach Third season

B

ailey Dillender enters her third year as assistant coach of the Tennessee Tech softball team, previously serving as the head coach of Southern Force Softball, and two years as a graduate assistant coach at Campbellsville University and hitting instructor at Borders Softball Academy. Dillender returned to her alma mater Campbellsville, an NAIA school in Campbellsville, Ky. that competes in the Mid-South Conference, in June 2012 as a graduate assistant where she performed a variety of tasks including conducting individual workouts, recruitment of players, and field work. During her two year tenure with the Lady Tigers, Dillender also spent a year as head coach of Southern Force Softball, a travel

organization designed to help elite softball players showcase their talents in front of college coaches while playing against the best competition in the country. While serving as hitting instructor at Borders Softball Academy in Scottsville, Ky., Dillender worked with players ages 6-18 on proper hitting mechanics, while also discussing the mental and physical aspects of softball. Dillender enjoyed a standout career as a member of the Lady Tigers from 2008-12, earning first team All-Conference recognition in all four years, including taking home Mid-South Conference Player of the Year honors in 2010 and 2011.
