The 2010, 2013 and 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year and the 2009 and 2013 Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year, Matt Bragga heads into his 15th season at the helm of Tennessee Tech baseball. The Golden Eagle head coach has made the baseball program a model of consistency, winning five OVC championships in the past nine years. His clubs have won 40 or more games in three of the past five seasons, setting a school record of 40 in 2013 and 2014 and then breaking that mark with a 41-win campaign in 2017. Besides winning championships in the 11-team OVC, his teams also have the highest overall winning percentage in the last 10 years within the league. TTU’s average finish in the conference standings is also the best in the OVC over the past nine seasons. Outside of the OVC, the consistency of the Bragga-led Golden Eagles has shown as well. Since 2007, Tennessee Tech has the second-most wins and second-best winning percentage (behind Vanderbilt) of any of the nine NCAA Division I schools in the state of Tennessee. Recruiting great young men that are willing to work, lead and make great decisions, then helping them develop into great baseball players, has been a key to the success of Tech baseball. The Golden Eagle squad had players sign with Major League Baseball for nine straight years (a streak that ended in 2016), including an OVC-record six student-athletes signing after the 2014 season. During this streak, 18 young men were signed by an MLB club, 16 of which were never drafted before. The two that had been drafted previously both improved their draft stock significantly while at Tech. Stephen Pryor went from a 42nd-round draft pick to a fifth-rounder, eventually pitching in the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners. The 18 players that have signed since 2007 more than doubled the total of players that had signed with an MLB club from Tennessee Tech since the MLB draft began in 1965. Not only is the development of the student-athletes showing up in terms of championships and draft picks, but also in All-American selections. Since Bragga’s arrival, Tennessee Tech players have earned an incredible 30 All-American nods and a National Freshman of the Year award (current Golden Eagle, Kevin Strohschein). The student-athletes that have been in the Golden Eagle baseball program have also shown great discipline in the classroom. The past 12 teams have earned the 12 highest team GPA marks since records started being kept in 1972. The 2014 team holds the record with a 3.20 GPA and the 2015 squad ranks right behind with a 3.17 mark. The 2015 team also won the OVC Baseball Team Academic Achievement Award, which is given to the program with the most student-athletes recording a 3.25 G.P.A. or higher. Two players under the guidance of Bragga have gone on to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, including current Golden Eagle Trevor Putzig in 2017. Understanding the importance of a great education, TTU has even had an All-American leave a year of eligibility on the table to go pursue his dream of being an engineer. The 2017 season was one for the record books, as Bragga’s squad broke the school record for wins with 41. They won the OVC regular season championship for the third time in eight years and won the OVC Tournament title on their way to competing in an NCAA Regional in Tallahassee, Fla. At the Regional, Tech defeated eventual College World Series participant Florida State, 3-1, in the first contest. In the winner’s-bracket championship, TTU fell to Auburn 5-3. Florida State came back to defeat the Golden Eagles by a score of 5-3 to finish another historic season for Tech baseball. Ryan Flick garnered numerous postseason accolades, including five All-American nods and a spot among the five finalists for the Gregg Olson Award (Breakout Player of the Year). The team saw eight players honored with OVC awards, including First-Team honors to David Garza and Ethan Roberts, Second-Team honors to Chase Chambers, Ryan Flick, Trevor Putzig, Kevin Strohschein and Michael Wood, and an All-Freshman honor to Devin Lancaster. Flick took home OVC Tournament MVP honors, joining teammates Trevor Putzig, Travis Moths and Kevin Strohschein on the All-Tournament Team. In 2016, TTU baseball tallied a 31-24 record to finish fourth in the OVC, a repeat finish of the 2015 season. Freshman Kevin Strohschein became the first player in league history to win both the Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year awards in the same season. He was also earned multiple All-American and Freshman All-American accolades, and was named Co-National Freshman Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

COACHING STAFF Bragga's 2014 squad tied the school record for wins, a record it set in 2013, as it became one of only two teams in OVC history to win 40 games in back-to-back seasons. The 2014 team not only had a record six players sign with a Major League Baseball team, but it also had four players drafted in the first 12 rounds. The 2014 season also saw two student-athletes, Daniel Miles and Brandon Thomasson, named postseason TPX Louisville Slugger Collegiate Baseball newspaper First-Team All-Americans. Dylan Bosheers, named a Second-Team All-American, gave Tech a program-record three players with national honors from one publication. Only Oregon State could match this feat. The 2014 club ranked No. 1 in the country in runs scored per game (8.3), total home runs (83), (out-slugging their opponents by a margin of 52 home runs), home runs per game (1.41), and slugging percentage (.495). It also ranked seventh in the country in fielding percentage at .979, tying the school record. 2013 was a record-breaking campaign for Bragga’s squad. The team won a then school-record 40 games and an OVC regular season title as they racked up a leaguerecord 24 victories against just 6 losses in OVC play. The 2013 squad ranked near the top in the nation in several major categories, covering all facets of the game, including: pitching, defense, and offense. The team ranked seventh in the country in scoring (7.3 runs/game), 13th in fielding percentage (.979), seventh in home runs per game (.95), eighth in slugging percentage (.464), and second in strikeouts per nine innings (9.0). The 2013 club also had eight members make the All-OVC First or Second Team, six of whom were underclassmen. Daniel Miles and Zach Stephens were both named All-Americans. The 2013 baseball team tied a school record with a 14-game win streak and defeated the No. 2 nationally ranked Vanderbilt Commodores on the road. No team in any sport, in the history of Tennessee Tech athletics had ever beaten a higher ranked team prior to the win at Vanderbilt. At the conclusion of the 2013 season, Bragga’s Golden Eagles compiled an 8-4 record against teams that reached the 64-team NCAA Regional field, including a mark of 5-3 against opponents ranked in the top 35 in the country. Off the field, the 2013 team excelled as well, as they set a program record for team GPA. They finished the fall semester with a 3.177 mark and bettered that in the spring with 3.215. Twenty-six out of 35 student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or higher that spring. It represented the fifth year out of the past six where a new team GPA record was set and then broken the next school year.

COACHING STAFF In 2012, one of Bragga’s former student-athletes, Stephen Pryor, reached the Major Leagues with the Seattle Mariners. Pryor had been a fifth round pick of the Seattle Mariners in 2010 and flashed a 100 mph fastball in his MLB debut against the Chicago White Sox in June of 2012. Offensively, in 2012, the Golden Eagles were splendid, ranking 26th in the nation in batting average (.299), 13th in home runs per game (.92), 19th in on base percentage (.391), and 29th in slugging percentage (.434). On the mound, Matthew Shepherd helped lead the pitching staff and was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the June MLB draft. Five players from the 2012 team were named All-Conference and powerhitting first baseman Zach Stephens was named Second-Team All-Region. The 2011 Golden Eagles finished fourth in the league standings as four studentathletes were named to All-OVC teams. Slugger Zach Stephens was named to the TPX Freshman All-American Team and 2010 First Team All-American Chad Oberacker was drafted for the second time in his Tech career, going to the Oakland Athletics. In the classroom, the 2011 team posted the best team GPA in school history with a 2.94 combined fall and spring mark. In 2010 the Golden Eagles finished the season winning 15 of their last 16 conference games to win the OVC regular season championship, their second title in as many years. The team was also voted the league's Sportsmanship Award winner.

2010 also marked the first time in history that the Tech program had won 30+ games in a season for three straight years. Individually, five team members were voted to AllConference teams and sluggers Chad Oberacker and A.J. Kirby-Jones were both named TPX/ABCA First-Team All-Americans, the first time in school history that two players had been named First-Team All-America in one decade, let alone one season. Beyond being ranked 29th nationally in batting average (.332) and 12th in strikeouts per nine innings (8.7), the team also boasted the second highest team GPA in its history, garnering a 2.915. The 2010 club also set a program mark for MLB draft picks in a season when four Golden Eagles heard their names called in the draft. Right-handed flamethrower Stephen Pryor went to the Seattle Mariners in the fifth round, all-time home run king A.J. Kirby-Jones went to the Oakland A’s in the ninth round, all-time hits leader Chad Oberacker went to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 19th round, and left handed power pitcher Adam Liberatore was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 21st round. In 2009, the Golden Eagles made a thrilling run to sweep the Ohio Valley Conference baseball tournament and eliminate No. 14 Alabama from the NCAA regionals, setting the standard for what proved to be an epic 2010 season. They finished the 2009 season with a 31-24-1 record, marking the first back-to-back 30-win seasons in Tech history. The Golden Eagles swept the OVC tournament, going 4-0, including back-to-back extra-inning victories over Jacksonville State to clinch the OVC title. They went on to the NCAA regional in Clemson, S.C., where they eliminated No. 14 Alabama before being eliminated by eventual regional-champion Clemson. The Golden Eagles had two All-OVC team members, six All-Tournament team members, and the OVC Tournament MVP in A.J. Kirby-Jones. Alex Henry was also named to the All-Regional team at the Clemson Regional. Following the 2009 season, pitcher Ryan Dennick was drafted by the Kansas City Royals. Off the field the 2009 club established the top GPA mark in school history with a 2.928 mark for the year. Taking over the head coaching reins in January 2004, Bragga has shown the dedication needed to win multiple OVC championships, and his players exhibit that same down-to-earth determination, day-in and day-out. His plan has brought about marked improvements in the team’s on-field performance, academic performance, alumni support and program facilities. On the field, Bragga’s silent resolve has taken the program from a 13-42 record in his first full year in 2005, improving 5.5 games in 2006 with a record of 18-36, making an eight game improvement in 2007 with a record of 26-28, and another seven game improvement in 2008 as the Golden Eagles went 35-23-1, leading to the OVC championship and an NCAA Regional berth in 2009 and more OVC Championships in 2010, 2013 and winning multiple titles in 2017. With success on the recruiting trails, Bragga continues to take the baseball program to a new level.

GOLDEN EAGLE BASEBALL

COACHING STAFF Before taking the head coaching position at Tech, Bragga spent three and a half years as an assistant coach at Birmingham Southern College under head coach Brian Shoop from July 2000 to December 2003. He spent the majority of his time at BSC working as the hitting and outfielder coach as well as recruiting for the Panthers. Under Bragga’s direction, BSC hitters batted a combined .316 during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. In 2004, after accepting the job as Tennessee Tech head coach Bragga, led his former Birmingham-Southern ball club win the Big South Conference title, winning 47 games and losing just 18. They received an at-large birth to the NCAA Regional’s in Athens, Ga. in BSC’s first year eligible for NCAA D-I postseason play. In 2003, the BSC team went 33-18 as 10 Panthers hit over .300 for a team batting average of .318. The Panthers scored 7.9 runs per game which ranked 15th in NCAA Division I. For the 2002 season, BSC’s first as an NCAA D-I member, the Panthers finished with a 32-20 record. Before moving to the NCAA Division I for the 2002 season, the Panthers won the school’s first ever NAIA National Championship in 2001 as 11 Panthers hit .300 or better and averaged 8.5 runs per game. In 2001, the Panthers set a school record for most wins in a season, going 55-11. Bragga also owned some head coaching experience before coming to Tech. At the age of 25, prior to his role at Birmingham Southern, Bragga served as the head coach at Bevill State (Ala.) Community College for four seasons. Bragga took over a Bevill State baseball program that, prior to his arrival, had an all-time record of 175-350 (.343), and was considered by many one of the worst programs in the state of Alabama. With the Bears going 39-20 in 1998, Bragga’s second season at Bevill State resulted in a school record for most wins in one season. That team also participated in the schools first-ever postseason tournament. In 1999, Bragga led his squad to a 40-19 record, surpassing his previous record and taking the team to another regional tournament. During his time at Bevill, his teams compiled a 148-86 record and BSCC went from a .343 winning percentage prior to Bragga’s arrival, to one of Alabama’s best Community/ Junior College programs, amassing a remarkable .630 winning percentage during his time. Before jumping into the college ranks, Bragga served as head coach for the Junior American Legion Baseball Team Post 208 that won the Alabama state championship in 1996. That same year, he also took on the role as assistant coach for the Tuscaloosa County High School baseball squad. One aspect that makes Bragga such an influential coach, and what some describe as a player’s coach, is that he has coached and played at nearly every level of baseball. Bragga played his collegiate career for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, earning four letters from 1991 to 1994. He played multiple positions at Kentucky, including outfield, catcher, first base and designated hitter, and also excelled at the plate. Bragga earned multiple honors including second-team All-Southeast region and Southeastern Conference all-tournament first-team in 1993. In his senior season Bragga finished with a .408 batting average in SEC play, which ranked him second in the league. He also etched his name in the Kentucky baseball record books, ranking among UK’s all-time best in multiple season and career categories. During Bragga’s four-year career with UK, the baseball team compiled the most wins in any four-year period of UK baseball, a record which was recently broken by the 2005-2008 Kentucky squads. After graduating from Kentucky with a degree in communications, Bragga signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds organization in 1994. He played one season in the Pioneer League with the Butte (Montana) Copper Kings before moving to Charleston, W.Va., to play with the Cincinnati Reds’ Single A affiliate the following season. Bragga earned his master’s degree from the University of Alabama. Matt is married to the former Elisa Currins, a 1997 graduate of the University of Alabama. The couple are the proud parents of two children — Luke and Emerson.

ASSISTANT COACH / RECRUITING COORDINATOR • 4TH SEASON • GEORGIA, 2005

Justin Holmes is in his fourth year as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tennessee Tech baseball team, offering a strong baseball background, both as a player at the University of Georgia and minor league baseball, and as a coach at Georgia and Mercer. An assistant at Mercer University from 2010-2013, Holmes served as both the hitting coach and first base coach to the 2013 Atlantic Sun Championship squad. The Bears earned a 43-18 record on its way to its first ever regular season championship and NCAA Tournament berth. The team also found itself ranked for the first time in program history. During his tenure at Mercer, Holmes helped develop and coach a First-Team All-American, three Louisville Slugger Freshman All-Americans, two Capitol One Academic All-Americans, three ABCA/Rawlings All-South Team members, the 2013 A-Sun Player of the Year, the 2012 A-Sun Freshman of the Year the A-Sun Scholar-Athlete of the Year, 10 All-Atlantic Sun selections and three players who went to play professional ball. He also helped coordinate a defense that finished first in the NCAA in fielding percentage in 2013. Mercer won 121 games during his three seasons as a member of the coaching staff, finishing in the top 100 in RPI as well. Prior to working at Mercer, Holmes served as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater, the University of Georgia, from 2007-2010. He served as the first base coach while preparing and conducting practice sessions devoted to hitter development, base running and infield defense on a daily basis. In 2008, he was part of the coaching staff that won the 2008 SEC Championships and finished second at the College World Series. Holmes coached and developed two All-Americans, the 2008 SEC Player of the Year, two All-SEC First Team selections from the infield and a Rawlings NCAA Division I Gold Glove winner. He saw six former UGA players move on to professional baseball in his time as coach and helped develop a defense that led the SEC in fielding percentage in 2008. After playing one season at the University of South Florida, Holmes transferred to and played three seasons at the University of Georgia, starting at shortstop from 2002-2004. The captain and co-MVP of the 2004 SEC Championship team, Georgia finished third in the College World Series and finished the season with a 45-23 record. He earned an All-SEC Second Team selection that year, as well as All-Regional and Super Regional honors while batting a team-best .332 with eight home runs and 56 RBI. He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in fielding percentage for a shortstop and as a two-time Scholar Athlete Honor Roll recipient. A 26th round draft pick of the Cleveland Indians in 2004, Holmes played in the Indians organization for two years, spending time in Burlington, N.C. in the Appalachian League and Eastlake, Ohio for Lake County in the South Atlantic League. He also played for the Traverse City (Mich.) Beach Bums of the Frontier League where he was a two-time All-Star selection and finished as the franchise's all-time hits leader. A graduate of UGA in 2005, Holmes earned his bachelor's degree in classical culture. He is married to the former Elizabeth Newsome of Washington, Ga., a 2008 graduate of the UGA veterinary school and member of the Georgia's 2003 and 2004 national championship equestrian teams. The couple lives in Cookeville with their son, Rider and daughter, Vera.

Wright joins the Golden Eagle staff as an assistant coach after serving as a student and then volunteer assistant coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville for the past two and a half years. "We had a huge pool of applicants, but Mitchell just stood above the rest as the best fit for Tennessee Tech baseball," Bragga said. "During his interview process, I just knew more and more that he was the choice to serve as our next assistant coach. He will be a strong addition to our staff with his knowledge and background in pitching, as well as his attitude and energy level. He's a perfect complement for what I think we need to take that next step as a program and I'm elated to have him on staff." For Wright, it wasn't a difficult decision to continue his young coaching career in Cookeville. "Good coaches and the history of the program; that's what drew me to Tennessee Tech," Wright said. "Coach Bragga is awesome and [Assistant] Coach [Justin] Holmes is an A-plus guy. The fact that this program continues to win and get better and better and better; it was just an opportunity I couldn't pass up. "I'm hoping to add a little bit of youth and a passion for pitching," Wright added. "I think just the manner of going about business in a different way and provide a little bit of a different perspective in the pitching aspect of the game are things that I can offer the best for this program." While in Huntsville, Wright served as a student coach for the 2016 season and then as a volunteer assistant for the 2017 season. He also served as an athletic administration assistant for UAH during his three years as the university, covering an array of responsibilities with game management and staff coordination. Wright was a member of the Chargers' baseball team as a left-handed pitcher from 2014-15, completing his senior season with All-Gulf South Conference Honorable Mention honors. He struck out 60 batters in just over 50 innings of work on the mound, highlighted with a career-high 10 punchouts at North Alabama. Prior to his arrival at UAH, Wright played for one season at the University of West Alabama in 2012, eventually transferring to Calhoun Community College for the 2013 season. In 2013, he earned ACCC North Division First Team honors. A left-handed pitcher for four years, Wright comes from a family of baseball players and coaches. His father, Roger, served as the head baseball coach at Buckhorn High School in New Market, Ala. for 17 years before stepping down in 2014 to watch his sons play. A 2016 inductee into the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame, he returned to Buckhorn as a head coach in March of 2017. The Huntsville, Ala. native also has two younger brothers immersed in the baseball world. His middle brother, Kyle, was a star for Vanderbilt from 201517 and was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves. His youngest brother, Trey, is set return to Buckhorn High School for his sophomore season and play for their father, Roger. Wright graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in December 2016, earning degrees in both history and secondary education.

Redovian joins the Golden Eagle staff as a volunteer assistant after serving as an assistant coach and JV coach at Florida Southern during the 2017 season. "Just speaking with Jimmy for a few minutes was enough to convince me we had to bring him in," Bragga explained. "He is such a high-energy guy who has experience in the sport from the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) to a Division II national powerhouse. He is going to be a perfect fit to our staff from a philosophical level and will be a huge boon to our operations as well. I'm thrilled to bring him aboard and round out an outstanding staff." Two key factors made the decision a win-win and no-brainer for Redovian. "Program tradition," he said. "Tech baseball has been outstanding the last 10-14 years, essentially since Coach Bragga has been here. Also, I was down in Florida coaching and I wanted to move a little closer to home. It's good to be home and part of a very good program at the Division I level. "I'm hoping to just bring a bunch of energy," Redovian explained. "I know Coach Bragga is a very energetic and enthusiastic guy, and that breeds right into how I was raised in the game and in the coaching world. I'm excited to join and bring that energy and sense of attitude. I'm pumped to join a winning staff that's full of great guys and a team that has a ton of great players." Redovian joined the Florida Southern College staff in the fall of 2016 following a four-year collegiate baseball career that began at Wake Forest University and ended at the University of West Florida. The Nashville native helped lead West Florida to the 2016 NCAA Division II South Regional in Tampa, Fla., batting .312 with three homers and 27 RBI as the team's primary designated hitter. During the 2016 NCAA postseason, Redovian batted .407 with six runs batted in and a team-best .448 on-base percentage. In two seasons with the Argonauts, Redovian played in 93 games with 89 games at third base, shortstop, and as the DH, and compiled a .282 batting average with four home runs, 46 runs batted in and a .380 on-base percentage. Prior to joining West Florida's baseball program, Redovian played two years in the ACC for Wake Forest University and showed his versatility as a defender having started 25 games with a combined 40 appearances at second base, shortstop and third base. As a Demon Deacon he had two home runs and 10 RBI's over his two seasons. Redovian attended high school at Battle Ground Academy from 2009-2012, where he played for highly-acclaimed head coach, Brad Myers, and was both an all-region baseball and football player. In 2012, he was named to the All Mid-State team after helping lead BGA to the school's first ever baseball state championship. Redovian signed with Wake Forest while a junior in high school. He also played summer baseball with the acclaimed Middle TN Outlaws, returning as an assistant coach for the 16U team during the summers of 2015 and 2016. He graduated from the University of West Florida in the spring of 2016 with a bachelor's degree in sports management.

Larry Bragga is in his 13th season as a member of the Golden Eagle baseball staff, handling a variety of duties to help build the program directed by his son, Tech head coach Matt Bragga. A 1967 graduate of the Ohio State University, Bragga earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and speech before moving on to Kent State University where he received his master’s in education administration. Bragga spent 24 years as a high principal at Jefferson High School and Painesville Riverside High School before retiring in 1997. He was elected and served as mayor of Jefferson, Ohio for seven years before his arrival at Tennessee Tech. A baseball coach his entire life, Bragga served several coaching roles over the years prior to his time in Cookeville. He spent time coaching high school baseball at Ashtabula Harbor High School, summer ball at several different levels and assisting his son at Bevill State Community College in Alabama. He has proved to have an eye for talent and has recruited many collegiate, minor and major league players during his many years in baseball. He joined in the TTU staff in August of 2006. Bragga serves the program wherever he is most needed. He has been a bench coach, recruiting coordinator, operations coach, equipment manager, mental skills director and academic coach, while also handling many administration duties. He feels truly blessed to be working with the entire Golden Eagle coaching staff and most especially, the student-athletes of Tennessee Tech. Bragga, and his wife, Carol, are the proud grandparents of Luke, Elle and Emerson.

A 1986 inductee into the Tennessee Tech Sports Hall of Fame, Shumate enjoyed one of the most successful seasons at the plate in 1961, hitting .527 in 17 games to set the program record for batting average in a single season. Not only does the mark still stand today, it also represents the top average in a single year in OVC history.

A problem for pitchers every time he stepped to the plate, Oberacker stepped up his play to a whole new level in 2010, racking up a program-record 108 hits in 56 games while leading the Golden Eagles to the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship. His performance still stands as the highest single-season total in league history and makes him the only Golden Eagle to ever eclipse the century mark in base hits in one season.

A four-year starter as a middle infielder, Bosheers plastered his name all over the Tech record book in his career, tallying a program-record 60 doubles in his four seasons in purple and gold. A speedster on the diamond for the entirety of his career, Maclin made a routine of stretching a typical double into so much more, tallying an program and Ohio Valley Conference record 10 triples in the 1971 season. More than twice as many as any other player has ever posted in school history, the mark helped Maclin cement his play as the program’s career leader in triples as well, legging out 16 in his four-year career.

Arguably the most accomplished hitter in program history, Stephens left his mark all over the record books in his four-year career, ranking first in both school and Ohio Valley Conference history with 62 home runs. He also set the team and league standards with 229 career RBI and 529 total bases and owns the Tech records for career hits (285) and runs scored (192).

One of the most potent offenses in program history, the 1997 squad had Malone to thank for a massive chunk of the scoring, literally. The four-year Golden Eagle dented home plate a program-record 77 times during the year, just a fraction of his 183 total runs scored, more than enough to help the team to an Ohio Valley Conference championship.

In just three years, Kirby-Jones made it his mission to see just how hard and far he could hit a baseball every time he stepped to plate. And boy did he succeed during the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference championship season, setting a program record with an .859 slugging percentage. He set the school and OVC standards for home runs with a whopping 26 that season, and left his mark all over the Tech record book.

Every once in a while, a player comes along and does something that raises everybody’s eyebrows and that’s just what Maberry did in 1997, setting a program record with 12 victories on the hill while leading the Golden Eagles to an Ohio Valley Conference title. He turned in a near identical performance with the bat as well, becoming the first and only player to ever win both OVC Pitcher and Player of the Year.

There’s no denying what kind of effect Kemp had on hitters in his four years as the ace of the Golden Eagle pitching staff. The southpaw still holds the program and Ohio Valley Conference records with 408 strikeouts, thanks in large part to a 1986 season that set the current school mark of 133 punchouts. His 408 Ks may never be touched, totaling more than 100 more than the next best mark in school history.

Putting enough faith in a freshman hurler to start from day one is not an easy decision to make for most coaches. Archer made that choice a no-brainer, turning in a fantastic four-year career that saw him rack up a program-record 323.2 innings on the hill. The winningest pitcher in Tech history with 23 victories, he tied the Ohio Valley Conference mark with 55 career starts and racked up nearly 300 strikeouts.

A.J. Kirby-Jones (above) literally crushed his way to the top of the Tech record books, mashing a program-best 26 home runs in 2010, breaking his own record of 20 dingers from 2009. Todd Kemp (below) made a habit of striking out opponents in his career, and there was no better year for the all-time Ks King of Tech than in 1986. Kemp fanned 133 batters that season, breaking the Golden Eagles single-season record.

The 2013 Golden Eagles shattered the program record for fielding percentage, setting a mark of .979, 10 points better than any other team in Tech history. All four infielders earned All-OVC honors on the year, including second baseman Zach Zarzour (above), first baseman Zach Stephens, shortstop Dylan Bosheers, and third baseman Daniel Miles (below, from top to bottom). The entire infield returned to match its output in 2014, with each earning All-OVC honors again.
