Wagah Border
Wagah Border is located 32kms away from Amritsar; it is famous for the Beating Retreat ceremony that includes the opening of gates from both the sides India and Pakistan, Indian BSF guards and Pakistan Rangers marching, people singing the National Anthem with some other dancing. It began in 1959 with the agreement of both the countries; since July 2011, women guards have also been allowed to be part of this ceremony. It is a sight to see and if you are in Amritsar make sure to watch it.
Durgiyana Temple
It is a famous Lakshmi-Narayana temple which has a strong resemblance to the famous Golden Temple. This temple is a profound depiction of brotherhood and cordiality between the two religious beliefs.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum
A Summer Palace turned into a Museum; it is a repository of his arms, armor and other things used by him. The Rambagh Gardens surround the palace and in there stands the magnificent statue of the King with his horse.
Partition Museum
An Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (TAACHT) initiative dedicated to the millions who lost their lives and their loved ones during the partition in 1947. It is one of its kinds in the world that tells the tales of the suffering and trauma that partition or any war can bring.
