Now then, I don't suppose you need to be a political junkie to realize that the GOP race for 2012 is shaping up very rapidly. And surprisingly enough it is quiet a close race considering the amount of money being spent by the Romney campaign. Of course many of the larger donors who have moved to other candidates promise that whoever is nominated as the GOP presidential candidate for 2012 - that they will also support them with their dollars. Indeed that's what it's going to take, because this will end up a very big money race. Okay so let's talk about all this for second shall we? President Obama's reelection campaign committee has promised that it will spend up to $1 billion to ensure his reelection. If so, that will be the largest amount of money ever spent on any political campaign in the history of our Great Republic. The question is can Obama with his less than 50% approval ratings raise that kind of money? We just don't know yet, but I'm sure we will find out. Can the Republicans raise that much? It's hard to say, and one might also ask if they have to in order to win. Recently, President Obama has been criticized for changing his mind on PAC money, some charge his campaign with going into survival mode, and just plain politics as usual. Of course, President Obama is a politician, so that shouldn't surprise anyone, politics are a nasty game, and to be victorious you have to play to win. That's what the Republicans are attempting to do, so that's what Obama will most likely attempt to do as well (FYI: I am not an Obama supporter by any means). Apparently the GOP race now looks like it is between Santorum, Romney, and Gingrich. And it's hard to say who has the better position. If Santorum and Gingrich are splitting votes, and are liked by the tea party, and the Romney is seen as a more centrist politician, then until either Gingrich or Santorum leaves the race, it's really hard to tell where the GOP really is, or even who's really winning. It does make sense that as long as Gingrich and Santorum stay in the race this is best for Romney. The Obama campaign had attempted to malign Romney early on, supposedly because they didn't want to run against him, but as President Obama runs towards the center, it makes Romney and himself look closer aligned, and that could cause some libertarians to not vote, along with some Republicans. Well, those are the early 2012 political trends. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
