In his 4-year spell at Barca, he's won pretty much everything he could have. Led by a strong team that knows how to find each other blindly, one can't ignore this success coach for much longer. But why should he be a candidate for the united job? Well that's easy, he recently announced that his "expiration date" at the Spanish club is nearing an end. He said that when a trainer is at a club for too long, both players and managers are in need of a fresh wind. A wind I'd gladly see ending in the Manchester area. Jose Mourinho The special one is his nickname, and for good reason. He's the only manager that has reached the final of the cup with the big ears in three different suits (porto, inter and Chelsea). That's a CV that's hard to ignore for sure. However what really strikes me when it comes to Mourinho's style is that he is a master strategic, he can win matches against superior teams. Part of this is thanks to his strong mind games against the opponent. Again, why should he be considered for the seat in Old Trafford? Two reasons come to mind. One, he's declared interest in a return to England and even allegedly confirmed the Manchester United name to close friends. The second reason is that he seems to have earned Sir Alex's seal of approval. It's no secret that Sir Alex and Joe Mourinho are friends, despite having faced a bitter rivalry during the Chelsea era. Other names The names noted above are definitely the favourites for the job, but other managers do have a case. Guus Hiddink for example is on the verge of another club after a series of little setbacks in
Turkey, should he fail to quality for the European cup. Truth be told, his strong ties with Ambramovic makes this a bad bet. Redknapp (Tottenham) is another name often tied to the Manchester United position, but his old age works against him. Manchester United will want a trainer for the long term like they'd done when Sir Alex joined the board. Conclusion In my opinion I'd love to see Jose Mourinho in the seat of Sir Alex after he decides to retire. He's the best bet because of his great successes in the past and strong desire to return overseas. In any case the coming years will definitely be a tipping point for the United team, where they can either stonify their position at the top or fall back slightly as the older players and manager retires.
