Research Center Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

Taking into account city’s proposals for Fort Lauderdale as a Livable Downtown, design a research center that responds to its surroundings and is pedestrian friendly. Create a program for the research center that includes an auditorium, and complies with Florida Building Code requirements.

Project concept and design decisions were chosen based on a site analysis through collage techniques. Articulated building shape represents different scales of surrounding of buildings, and lime stone, as preferred material, represent site layers and overlapped views.

Eco-Lodge Design an Eco-Lodge that touches the ground as lightly as possible using design strategies that affect minimally the environment. Develop a relationship between construction methods and the expression of an idea about the everglades. Use a ramping system to move through the eco-lodge.

The Everglades is a part of a large interconnected ecosystem formed by lakes, streams, sloughs and wetlands . It was named ‘Grassy Waters’ by its early inhabitants.

Waters appear to barely flow as they move southward. It is habitat for countless species of plans and animals.
