NYHEDER - NOTICE Annual General Meeting - April 28, 2022

DANISH SOCIAL CLUB OF VICTORIA Board of Directors

Dear Members: It has been a really long time since we last met. That last occassion was Fastelavn in February of 2020. It was shortly after this that Covid and the related restrictions hit hard and we have been unable to get together since. April 8th all Covid mandates are scheduled to be dropped. Trusting thathere will be no changes to this, the executive is looking to organize an Annual General meeting for the 28th of April at 3:30 pm at Norway Hall. The main purpose of this is to plan how to restart the club. While we have been unable to meet, the Norwegians have been busy making some improvements to their hall. These improvements come along with some changes to rental practices. For example, rental costs have been increased considerably and the dates that clubs such as ours can meet have been restricted. The only dates that we have been able to get are the following: Thursday, November 17 (Men’s Dinner) and Saturday, December 17 (Christmas Dinner). The agenda for this meeting will cover these restrictions and the dates the executive is proposing for some upcoming events. It is hoped that members will contribute their thoughts and ideas to help us restart club activities. The executive wants all members in good standing for 2020 to know that they will also be in good standing for 2022. Please plan to attend and reconnect with members you haven’t seen in a long time. It will be a time of sharing ideas and having tea/coffee and aebelskiver. Looking forward to seeing you all….

Perfecting the Art of Comfort

In wake of the ongoing arrival of refugees from the War in Ukraine, the City of Copenhagen has committed to housing 330 refugees in a large pavilion near Amager Strand, along with plans to house 2,000 more around the corner, which are subject to approval. The city will refurbish an existing pavilion used to store, among other things, “winter service, lost property and urban furniture” to create a village for Ukrainians with lodging, daycare and offices. The project will cost 71 million kroner, and it should be completed by the end of July.

While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time then said ‘Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don’t think I’m hungry enough to eat 6 pieces. They Walk Among Us!

This guy bought a new fridge for his house. To get rid of his old fridge, he put it in his front yard and hung a Sign on it saying: ‘Free to good home. You want it, you take it.’ For three days the fridge sat there without anyone looking twice. He eventually decided that people were too mistrustful of this deal. So he changed the sign to read: ‘Fridge for sale $50.’ The next day someone stole it! They walk among us! The Preacher and the Peanuts A preacher visits an elderly woman from his congregation. As he sits on the couch, he notices a large bowl of peanuts on the coffee table. “Mind if I have a few?” he asks. “No, not at all!” the woman replied. They chat for an hour and, as the preacher stands to leave, he realizes that instead of eating just a few peanuts, he emptied most of the bowl. “I’m terribly sorry for eating all your peanuts. I really just meant to eat a few.” “Oh, that’s all right,” the woman says. “Ever since I lost my teeth, all I can do is suck the chocolate off them.”-
