The brief for this project was to create a portfolio of five editorial stories for a display at Graduate Fashion week, each aimed at an identified publication addressing a wide variety of issues and narratives. As a group of three, we decided to focus on a publication that relates to us, and some of the topics and issues this publication addresses and focuses on, the publication would be that of Essence magazine. Essence magazine focuses on successful black women, they talk about hair, makeup, and fashion for blackwomen. We then collected research about the publications target customer and what the magazine represents to its customers, this resulted in a photoshoot editorial based on black pride, African pride as seen here we have chosen to style the models hair with kinky curls, traditional African clothing with bright bold colours and accessorised them with African inspired jewelry and tribal makeup to represent a proud confident black woman.

Customer Retention Selective selling(Pricing strategy)Luxury brand customers love exclusivity. Make the availability of the merchandise hard to purchase, for example a high selling price for a limited edition item or items placed on a waiting list. Stand for somethingIdentify what social and political beliefs your brand has, this has to be the same as your target audience, you can’t make it up. Get ideal customers to be VIP’SWhat are your key customer traits are and identify them as your V.I.PS. Get customers started in a loyalty plan (loyalty card) immediately once they start purchasing your brand. Customer feedback is very important for your brand, we recommend you encourage your current customers to leave reviews on your service/product by offering them gifts or rewards. Exceptional customer serviceYou can’t work on customer loyalty until you have good customer service. If one of your customers have a complaint
Make it personal ( e.g. gift wrapped)write a friendly message on the tag of the product to say a personal thank you and welcome into the brand. Personalized experience gives customers more satisfaction. Label your customersWhen addressing your customer’s label them in a special way rather than just calling them customers as it sounds better as well as aid with boosting their ego to be affiliated with the brand by addressing them as more than a paying customer. Surprise reciprocityCustomers appreciate an unexpected kind gesture from a brand as it has an effect to leave a lasting impression on customers. (helpscout)
