Nashville, TN, native D’Lashay Speaks is a selfappointed advocate for the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and psychological uprising of the African American community. She is a serial entrepreneur, and owner of Kreative Koncepts and Lashay Media Group. Furthermore, she describes herself as a woman who speaks empowerment and uplifting words through television, radio, and literature, all intending to change people’s hearts and minds.

She is an overcomer and a real example of what perseverance looks like. “I am a woman who has made it my lifes’ mission to turn misery into ministry. Daily I live by the motto “Coming Out The Mud”. Having been raised by my grandparents and a greatgrandmother, I was taught at an early age that you must press through adversity and trust that God has a plan more significant than what your natural eye can see. It’s through adversity and trauma that I’ve been able to tap into my creativity in all aspects of business and create a life for myself and my children,” she says.

Lashay Media Group provides audio, video, media content, and promotional production services. With Kreative Koncepts, D’Lashay specializes in weddings, galas, and events. Additionally, she offers rental services, including coordinating and decorative design.

On the surface, it may appear that she was destined and purposed for everything that has happened in her career. The only thing she wishes she would have done earlier was to start earlier. Lashay Media Group was birthed in 2014 after she worked as the creative director on the set of a television production. Kreative Koncepts was launched in May 2018 in response to a post going viral on Facebook.

D’Lashay loves the benefits that come along with entrepreneurship. One she points out is the smiles and memorable experiences that she provides to her clients. “I am given the assignment to create magic for some of the most important moments in my client’s life. To see the joy it brings them when everything comes to fruition is gratifying,” she shares.

With every accomplishment and victory she has acquired, D’Lashay says that nothing would be possible without the love and support of her family. “Two people have impacted my life the most; my grandmother, Mary Robertson, who I call “Momma” and my later maternal great-grandmother, Kanellar King. They both are the strongest and most resilient people I have ever had the opportunity to glean from”.

While D’Lashay may be a woman and the founder of an African American-owned business, her reach has extended into other cultures. This particular type of growth has come with its unique share of challenges. One is with D’Lashay not being bilingual and having to learn how to adapt and understand the needs of other cultures. “To adjust has required many nights of researching different cultural dynamics, religions, and mannerisms to assure that I offer services in the spirit of excellence. I am not intending to offend any race of people by being limited to American standards,” she says.

As she continues to move forward in her career, D’Lashay hopes to impact and inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and be the person God has called for them to be. “The plan is to grow Kreative Koncepts and Lashay Media Group into a billiondollar business by providing international services and products worldwide, all within the spirit of excellence.”

Her advice for other aspiring entrepreneurs is to do your research, do more research, and then do some more research! “Remember, don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself every day. Also, know that sometimes you have to be your own Frankenstein and Einstein.” To learn more about D’Lashay Speaks, please visit her website.
